I saw this the other day and the movie was "meh"... It really depends on what you're expecting to see when you buy your ticket. The "scary parts" were done pretty well, although they were few and far between.
The ending was extremely predictable, even if the last (maybe) 5 seconds of the movie were the scariest 5 seconds I've seen in a theater in a long time. That isn't exactly saying much. The last "horror" I saw of any worth was The Exorcist prequel.
Basically I'd say that if you feel like seeing this at all, then def see it in the theater. There would be no point to watch this at home on DVD unless it were for the special features.
