yea, i sat here and reads peoples threads putting like jay z and em and tupac as overrated in there, and i oculdnt believe it either.......but everyone got they own opinion. so im not gonna batttle them over it.....*goes and looks at all the classic ass albums those artists have dropped*.....but really, yall didnt feel jayz first album? or all eyez on me?
I never said that Pac wasn't dope. All Eyez On Me is a great cd. Just overall dude is way to overrated IMO. Besides that album and a few songs here and there...that is all I really liked from Pac.

As for Jay-Z...it is similar to Pac with me. Reasonable Doubt is a fucking classic. I can bump that whole album front to back. After that I onle like some songs here and there from him.

Jay and Pac are/were both great mc's, but some people go way overboard with how good they are/were.

another man i see as over rated is paul wall, my homie called him lyrical cause he used the word "illuminated" in the drive slow song, lol, shit had me crackin up. then my homie quoted another line from him where he says "im posted up on the block like a mail box" or some shit like that, lol. shits funny, but everyone be goin nuts over him, i know some would say hes under rated cause they be lovin his shit, but it just aint doin alot for me, i aint sayin hes wack, he just aint as tight as people say he is in my opinion

Nobody even mentioned Eminem's race when they said he was overrated, so dont try to play the race card.
Maybe you should try reading ALL of the posts before you reply :ermm: ...

not saying he doesnt deserve his spot on any list. just saying thats where alot of the hype comes from. to me he never did anything outstanding, but from the point of view as the general public he was doin and saying things that no ever rapper has done. when to me it was just nothing special. thats what i was trying to say,not knockin him for being mainstream, just saying that alot of people give into the hype.
True some people give in to the hype surrounding an artist. But you also have to understand that some artists deserve the hype that has been created for them. You have to give a percentage of the general public a little more credit for being a genuine fan of the artists skills as opposed to falling prey to hype.

You know how it is man. Some artists, producers, athletes, even politicians strike a nerve in people regardless of the hype that's surrounding them. Even if it's for one song, one beat, one play or one speech. You can't deny what you like.

alot of eminems hype came from his race, when i was younger, i gotta admit, i just checked him out cause im white, and all the rappers i ever heard of were black, so i wanted to hear a rapper of my race, to see what that was all about. i liked him untill i heard some underground shit, and found out what rap was meant to sound like

i had this talk a while ago w/ somebody... eminem is both underated and overated...

he's overated in the things that have made him successful, but underated by the millions of consumers who like him for reasons other than his emceeing.

thats correct, cause most these people dont know what complexity is, and dont care about it, i know the 14 year old girls that be all goin nuts over his albums have no fuckin clue how good he can be at song writing they just like it cause they think hes hott, and hes a white rapper, and hes what everyones talking about
