Aside from any extra attention to Seattle helping us out (especially the connections between football and hip-hop culture), if it was just a game to people, then it wouldn't be a multi-billion dollar industry.

I never said that the people were smart enough to realize it's just a game. It's a release from the stresses of the REAL world.
My point in all this is, if you pray to God, Allah, whatever, for the Seahawks to win...do you think that "god" would do that? No. Why? Cause it's a fucking GAME. PEOPLE don't understand that, which is why the industry is capitalizing on them SO MUCH (multi-billions according to you). Who's to say survival is a necessity? Maybe we are here to kill each other as entertainment for someone, who knows. There is no true human need. You may say we need water; the reason is to live. But is that our purpose here, to live? No one knows for sure, but you need water because you want to live. Any need is to fulfill a personal want, so if someone wants to spend their money on electronics, thizz cds, football games, school, whatever they aren't stupid because when it really comes down to it nothing matters for sure (even things related to human survival).
