The South is by no way the reason why music today sucks

people like 50, Ja Rule and Jay-Z who pushed that watered down soft R&B bullshit are the reason - sugar coated pop hooks killed real rap, not crunk

His exact words:

"A lot of the music that comes out of the South is kind of simplified and I think it's kinda 'cause they just wanna have a good time," 50 told MTV. “But when they don't take the time to make it the highest quality possible, it hurts the actual hip hop [genre].

"They'll lower the grade of music."

The problem I have with this crunk music is people mistaking the makers of crunk music as being some kind of lyricists. People need take crunk music for what it is, music that u play in the club. You have people out there who think that artists like Lil Jon are the best rappers lyrically and shyt. Thats the problem. Nowadays, these young people are judging how great a rapper's skill level is based on whether they can get u crunk or not. And thats down bad.

what 50 said in that interview is a different thing from how this thread was pitched, 50 talking about people need to take time to make real quality music even if its its simple fun / club shit it needs to be tight - he didnt say "down south club music is bad for rap" thats a misquote.

...and the line "Fif’ believes hip hop is in a creative stalemate, largely due to the South" - that was the interpretation and opinion of the writer of the article...

everything got its place, if you dont like something turn it the fuck off and find something you do like, theres enough music out there for everybody to be satisfied, there is such a thing as good club music, good r'n'b, good whatever, even if i dont like a specific type of music i know when the artists making it are professionals or bullshitting, i'm sure thats the point.

Obviously not since its selling way more than the cats with real lyrics. When a cat with deep ass lyrics trys to go that route is usually flops so it takes a certain something to do what cats like D4L and the Franchise Boys are doing sorry to say. Its just a fad though, music moves in trends and its a matter of time before something else takes the place of that style when folks get sick of 10 groups singing the same damn song.

being from and currently living in the "dertty dertty" i would have to agree. i posted the same thing on another site. the down south stuff has basically replaced house music in the clubs and thats what they go for when they cook up a track, THE BEAT. yeah, other cats did the same thing but at least you could distinguish one track from the other. this stuff has started to sound alike no matter who on the track. i give props to the west for not changing there sound to fit in as some new york peeps did. i'm all for a west coast resurgence right about now. the south had its creative moments but it's just all sounding the same these days with a few exceptions. having lived in socal i just prefer the west coast sound. hell even skeelo came up with with more sensible lyrics than this shit.

I don't really like 50Cent, but I actually think he's right. The Southern sound is whats in high demand right now. Everybody be jocking it, especially youngsters. :ermm:

Pretty much all mainstream Rap sucks right now IMHO. There's nothing like 90's rap and bumpin that G-Funk WestCoast sound. Atleast most Mexican rappers from San Diego be keeping it real, like Lil Al, Lil Uno, Mr. Shadow especially.

This new style of rap has to go, it's silly sounding and too technoish. Especially crunk.

Like some have said, it's cool for getting bitches to shake their $hit and getting all freaky n horny, but that's it! I ain't going to go home and bump Lil Jon, T.I.,etc... That $hit is wack.

I don't understand how T.I. could possibly fit into a crunk or dumbing down his lyrics categories....T.I. is one of the top emcees right now, along with ludacris, from the south...shit....actually from the US as a whole. East coast cats aren't coming with any kind of style except what they heard the next man do....look at dipset, theres lots of talent there, but the whole crew sound like cam'ron clones....JR Writer is one of the best emcees i've heard in a while, but that shit has to go....

AND SOMEONE POSTED BOOGIEMONSTERS!!!!!!!
