That's a different story. If you dump a whole clip into somebody, it has to be at the same time. If the dude no longer poses a threat, you can't just go back and dump on him a second time. You have to empty the clip in one go...

The jury was right on this one. Dude could have got away with the first shot (or first series of shots if he was smart). But going back, grabbing another gun, and shooting him 5 more times is unjust.
this.....

the first shot was self defense and justifiable ...the other dude bailed...but going to get another gun and shooting 5 more into someone already down is premeditated....

i dont think he should have been given a life sentence though

He shot him in the head, not like he can be more dead or anything. I'd be raging too if someone tried to take me away from my son. I fear not for my life, but for my son living without me.

I'm talking about your views on incarceration. There are a lot of topics on this site you and I seem to see eye to eye on, breh. But the jail and prison system is not one of them.

I find it disgusting that you support strongly denying prisoners various rights, in a bunch of threads--like the one above, and then simultaneosly think people should get imprisoned for protecting themselves... if you're gonna imprison people who are to some degree defending themselves, don't you think they deserve basic human rights?

I dunno what makes you think you're the arbiter of justice.

yeah i was unaware....and i still dont believe jail should ever be comfortable...but SHU is not right...i actually the other night watched a documentary on it on netflix and some of the inmates were given interviews and gradually you could see their conditions worsen, mentally breaking down...the fact that they were taking any type of human interaction be that good or bad they could get... and adding more time to their sentence and their time in solitary because of of it is wrong....if i spent several years in those conditions i would probably try and hurt a guard or myself too...and trying to make them turn against their people to get out of it is suicide...

i still dont think that normal jail/prison should be looked up on as "easy" or be made too comfortable

im not sure why you brought this up in this thread though?

the guy defended himself with the first shot, dropping the dude..he should have dropped him and just kept dumpin on him....none of that stopping getting another gun and then poppin 5 more...now since there is no audio im not sure if he did unload the first gun completely...maybe he did and felt he needed a few more shots to teach him a lesson...either way i think he acted in the moment and wasnt thinking clear and doesnt deserve a life sentence...the fucked up part is he is 60 years old, probably obeyed every law, pays taxes and just got caught up in some bullshit because some random tweaker...and in theory, it could happen to any of us at any moment...someone invades my residence, they better hope i dont get to my gun..but even so ive seen that same shit backfire...

close friend of mine had his house broken into and he caught 4 of them in the house he bucked a couple of them inside the house and the other 2 were chased out onto the lawn where they were shot....he's doing 25 for that...bullshit considering the fact he had a newborn baby and a wife in the house with him...protecting himself and his family....the DA tried to play it the gang violence angle and won...

happened in Napa, mid 2000....Napa had a growing gang problem and always tried to hide it because they didn't want the Napa name to get tarnished, it wasn't known for violence, it was known for wineries....but around that time shit was escalating between scraps and norte. so when that shit happened and the scraps raided his home, the DA tacked on gang enhancement charges which basically was done just to send a message...there wasn't much of article on it either...wasn't no headliners made, but more swept under the rug.

What's the law in your state? Did the other guy have a weapon on him? It's different everywhere.

In California, if you smoke somebody who doesn't have a weapon, you're fucked. If you shoot in self-defense in a public place, you'll get fucked for carrying a loaded weapon (not many people have the right to carry concealed out here).

@Mystic...your boy is in prison because he chased people from his house and shot them. You can't do that in California because in this state, once they leave the residence, they are not considered a threat anymore.

California is FUCKED when it comes to self-defense laws. You can't shoot unless you absolutely believe your life is in danger. If they find 3 dead guys in your house (and none of them are armed), you're going to the pen for a loooooong time.

my friend was protecting himself and his family....he should have gotten a medal for how he handled it....if he was to get time it should have been nothing major, they broke into his house and who knows what would have happened had he not reacted how he did...i believe he acted out of survival and defense, not because they were scraps...shit he said he didnt even know they were until after....all i know is if it happened to someone of a lighter skin it would have been a slap on the wrist if anything at all

the lombardi shit was just heinous....everything from his intentions to the outcome....there is no justification to his actions and i think its bullshit that he only got 18 years...it should have been life
