I know UFC and Elite probably wouldn't work together but they should have brock and kimbo....Kimbo would get knocked the fuck out...

Elite is doing all they can possibly do to survive and if they put up a quality opponent against kimbo they know the outcome of the fight and that would probably be the demise of their business...

on a side note is crazy horse still with elite?

I don't see why people want to see Kimbo in there with elite level talent already, when he doesn't have the experience or training needed to even make a fight competitive.

Of course he always stands a puncher's chance, but other than that, he really needs to gradually up his level of competition, which I think they are doing a good job of, at the same time keeping his profitability intact.
Because he's the main event every time. He's not getting any better fighting these guys and is making twice as much money as guys who've busted their ass for years.
Look at Brock Lesnar. He came in the same way as Kimbo, big contract and lots of hype and has fought two top 20 heavyweights and gained a lot of respect. With Shamrock Kimbo's last 3 opponents have lost 20 of their last 23 fights. All they had to do was put him up against Brett Rodgers and everyone would be happy, but they couldn't even do that. But like I said in the MMA thread, they're probably just setting up Kimbo-Rodgers for their PPV. It's really just an insult to fans who actually want to see him put to the test instead of just knocking out an old man, something we could see him do on youtube.

Brett Rogers isn't elite competition. He's at the same level as Kimbo. I know what they're doing and I'm all for a company making money but that doesn't mean it isn't a joke fight. Kimbo will more than likely blast out Shamrock in 1 round and what would that do for him? Gradual step ups in competition only benefit a fighter if he's guaranteed a tough fight. The Thompson fight was a good fight for someone to learn .. being able to blast out someone who hasn't been credible as an opponent this century isn't.

It's damaging to a guy to be able to blow through everyone because once they face off a guy that isn't going to buckle from his punches it's usually too late for a nut check.

UFC can afford to move forward without Brock, Elite XC can't...The majority of the fans they are trying to draw are people who are clueless about MMA and want to watch fights for free on regular TV so their showcasing this freak who knocks out non quality opponents

kimbos not ready for a "real" fighter. y would they? fold.
Here's my complaint about this fight. Shamrock has lost his last five fights all by first round (T)KO stoppage. If Kimbo blows him out in one round what does that prove? He learns nothing from it.

Ron Waterman is old and is prone to losing easily but he has a real good win over Rinaldi and beat a fat and out of shape Ricco Rodriguez. He wouldn't be a bad fight.

I'm all for building fighters up but this isn't a build up .. it's a record fight and a money fight. Hopefully the oddsmakers on this fight think that Shamrock has a good chance ..

Why “Kimbo Slice” vs. Ken Shamrock makes sense for EliteXC

Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson will get a shot at a UFC Hall of Fame fighter in his second prime-time appearance on CBS.

EliteXC has paired Slice with Ken Shamrock (26-13-2) in the main event of the third edition of EliteXC CBS Saturday Night Fights on Oct. 4 from the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. The promotion and CBS will make the official announcement on Tuesday.

"This is the biggest fight that can be made right now," EliteXC Vice President Jared Shaw today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "It's bigger than Brett Rogers. It's bigger than Sean Gannon. Millions and millions have been entertained by Ken Shamrock over the years in Japan, in the UFC, and in the WWF, now the WWE. He's the biggest proven pay-per-view commodity in the sport. Together, those two will maximize the eyeballs for mixed martial arts on Oct. 4th."

While Rogers and Gannon were considered as opponents for Slice's fourth pro MMA bout, both carried more risk for EliteXC and Slice than Shamrock. The unbeaten Rogers criticized Slice (3-0) following the former backyard brawler's victory over James Thompson in May. Rogers would easily be the best fighter Slice has faced at this point in his career, and having Slice lose on CBS would be a significant setback for EliteXC as it builds to a major pay-per-view show in early 2009.

Gannon represented risk of different kind. The Boston cop is just 1-1 as a pro and hasn't fought since 2005. He's credited with a street-fight victory over Slice in a scrap that's become something of a legend on YouTube. However, resurrecting the street-fighting past of two fighters with a combined five pro fights between them would have been too much of a sideshow for network TV and alienated scores of MMA purists.

"It's a very, very legit and dangerous fight for both sides," said Shaw. "Ken says he's seen holes in Kimbo's game like Swiss cheese, and he's looking to expose them. And Kimbo Slice is the baddest man standing today in any combat sport."

In the 44-year-old Shamrock, EliteXC re-signs a fighter it cut in April following his knockout loss to Robert Berry in March. While Shamrock's skills have eroded, he's still a name in the sport that has the potential to draw viewers. CBS will promote this as the MMA version of "Rocky versus Clubber Lang" ala Rocky III. It's Shamrock, the wily veteran, looking to prove he still has game against the young wrecking machine Slice.

It could be good TV, even if it's not a great fight.

In an interview with MMAjunkie.com in June, Shamrock said Slice is "not ready" when asked about his development as a big-time fighter. Shamrock will now get a chance to decide firsthand just how much Slice has improved since he was tested against Thompson.

Im just saying Kimbo has to prove himself big time! b/c he's not doing it by far @ all...
He don't have to prove shit as long as people keep watching him regardless of what he does.

He'll be box office until he loses. The casual viewer who wants to see Kimbo don't care who they put in front of him. They just want to see him do more of what he was doing to bums on youtube.

The purists want to see him prove himself. Purist and commerce = oil and water.

If shamrock can get him to the ground he has a shot at winning. Even at 44 and way past his prime he still has fighting skills, especially on the ground where Kimbo has NONE. I mean, that retarded ear guy almost beat kimbo. Or course, if Kimbo lands one big shot it's over.
Yup

I think I'd have to put my money on Shamrock.
