I bought a Purple Dell Insperion piece of shit from Bestbuy. The thing was $530ish.. I only needed a puter that worked well with the interwebs and had a decent bit of space on it.

The guy hocked me a Kapersky anti-virus which I was sure I didn't need but why not just get the whole fuckin' thing, even if it costs me 20 bucks for a year of "protection".

More importantly, the guy sold me a $130 warranty. I talked to dude when I was buying the thing and I thought I was very clear that I wanted a long warranty in case of a fall/spill/angry smash, etc. I don't know what a one year cost, but I bought the two year warranty off dude.

So eventually the laptop falls, the case is broken on what would be the top left corner if it were closed, and it doesn't close correctly. As I type this, the whole hinge cover that should be at the bottom of the screen is missing. I could put it back, but it's not like it's going to stay there. The top left of the monitor is a little darker than it should be. It's not very bad, but it's not perfect... and considering I got this thing like 2-3 months ago, it should be.

So long story short, I bring the thing back to Best Buy, and I'm told the warranty I purchased doesn't cover "accidental" shit like drops/spills etc. It only covers hardware failure. Why the fuck would I spend an extra 130 just for hardware failure that I KNOW won't happen? I'm told that the warranty that I was SUPPOSED to buy costs something like 200, as if the extra 70 bucks was going to make or break the fucking deal. The Beatrice behind the counter selling me the shit sure as fuck didn't mention it when I was buying it, either. I went there with the intention of buying a fully insured laptop, no matter the cost.

Two managers were talked to. None of them gave a fuck that they were fucking me, and also that the kid who sold me the shit didn't sell me the right fucking plan. I told them that the puter was acting slow.. Mainly I've been having non responsive programs, constantly, for no fucking reason. Dude tells me to do a system restore like he just invented the shit. I guess the 130 on the bullshit warranty I got doesn't cover the cock squad helping me out either...

Who the fuck works at Best Buy and can tell me what to say/do....

I can easily make hardware fail.... But I'd rather have a broken piece of shit rather than NO piece of shit. I'm most worried that the broken hinge on the left corner of the laptop is going to cause a problem past a broken case. The top left of the screen is darker than it should be. The puter has been running like shit almost out of the box, and I'm fucking pissed.

The only reason I even went to Best Buy to get a puter was for the warranty. I know damn well that somehow the shit is going to get fucked up. I've never heard anything bad about Best Buy warranties until I had to deal with one myself.

I need someone to give me some advice on how to handle Best Buy without throwing bricks. I want this shit replaced.

that sounds like exactly what happened to me... I bought a $150 MP3 player from there, and when they asked about the warranty, I asked if it covered accidental drops, and the sales rep told me, "It covers everything". So I was working construction, and it fell out of my pocket onto the cement and shattered the screen. I brought it back in and was told that accidental damage was not covered. I told them that when the sales rep sold it to me, I was told that the warranty would cover it, and they said that the sales rep was mistaken and there was nothing they could do.

Your first mistake was buying dell. The second mistake was buying Dell Inspiron. You should of went through an online company such as IBuypower. 1/3 of the price for what you get from dell and it last you. Ibuypower comes with a mandatory 1 year warranty and life time tech support.

I had a hinge break too. But...um...had the $250 warranty and got a new computer for the same price as I bought the original. I got a $500 computer for free after getting a $500 almost three years earlier. Tons faster.

This doesn't help you any and might, in fact, piss you off.

BUT...

it does show just how badly the dude that sold you the warranty fucked up. Vote = torch the place.

Some of you guys are fucking stupid.

Ok, your computer is better than mine. Good for you. Your dick is probably bigger too. Me picking the fucking thing up and nearly smashing it on the floor wasn't Dells problem.

Considering the last puter I had was ten years old, this one is just fine. I'm not running WOW all day like some of you are, and honestly there's a good chance this puter would run it better anyhow.

The issue is how I resolve my problem with Best Buy. I don't understand why I'm responsible now for a mistake the fuckin' store made. Upwards of 700 bucks in the store and we can't resolve this? WOuldn't it be possible for me to just pay them the difference to upgrade the warranty?
Most warranties don't cover that stuff. Did it say somewhere it did?
Yeah, the fuckin' pamphlet they gave me with the fuckin' thing says laptops are covered for accidental drops as well as spills. Essentially the warranty they sold me is really for desktops.

I was a 3rd tier manager and a Senior Case Manager with Dell, AT&T and HP for 3 years at a call center. Never buy any warranties until you need them.

Within 1 year (limited warranty period) you can always upgrade your warranty with the manufacturer for any other warranty package they offer.

How I tell my friends to do their business is to buy whatever they want and upgrade the warranty for another year or two before your standard warranty is up if you want the option of repairs later. Basic hardware bullshit. ALL computers break and only 20% of consumers actually call for support.

If you accidentally break your machine within 1 year and cant afford a whole NEW computer, I suggest this: Call the manufacturer and upgrade your warranty to cover Accidental Damage Protection. This will cost anywhere between $120 and 320 depending on the model and how many years of protection you want (1 should do just fine).

Then 1 month later, call back and say you fucked it up and want it repaired. NO SOONER because we DO look into that. It says SCAM all over it and we will refund you for the warranty instead of helping you if you seem like a scamming prick. Sometimes not even that.

So after 1 month call up, tell them you broke the shit and they will help ya. If you want a newer model, tell them there were other issues too. They might not upgrade you but f you're willing to keep sending it back for bullshit problems you can get a new one after 3 repairs.

ALSO, here's my favorite trick because it works for OUT OF WARRANTY computers. HEHEH, listen to this:

Call the company and tell them "I don't care HOW out of warranty it is, I dont want it fixed! I'm not paying a thing, I want to talk to a case manager or corporate!" Tell everyone and insist on a CM and tell them your old laptop (or tower) is ZAPPING you!
"it didnt bother me a first but now it hurts to masturbate and sweep, I kid you not!"

This is a health issue and gets escalated QUICKLY. The health team will see that it didn't burn down your house so they will send it down to the Case Management people who will contact you and hook you the fuck UP! Tell them the machine looks perfectly fine, the power cord and area are flawless but I dont know why it shocks me... just a low current zapping. They will RUN to fix you up because if the net catches wind of Dell Laptops zap-fucking people they will lose millions of customers and pay for the shipping and pro-rated reimbusments of hundreds of thousands of machines, even those which are NOT affected.

I know these systems through and through and this is how I get free computers every couple of years.

If you broke it accidentally you're fucked but with what I described above they send you a new computer FIRST then you return the old fucker and forget Dell's number because they probably wont help you anymore after they realized how hard you just fucked them. lol.

Yup, I'd be suing in a hot second if they refused to support me after paying for a fucking warranty that they said covers something, gave me evidence that what they were saying was true, and they refused to cover me. Oh yeah, and awesome post Twicked. That's some funny shit.

I asked if it covered accidental drops, .
Why would you do this? I thought everyone had enough common sense to say IDK what happend to it, or it just stopped working.

Anyway. Yous guys must be doing it wrong. I fucked Best Buy over a few tiems on Ipods. The first warrenty I had for a old ass ipod like 20 gig stated that you just get a brand new Ipod if it breaks. Either the same Ipod or one step up. I went. They stopped making the 20 gig. I walked out with a 60.

That shit broke. The new warranty stated that you gotta send your shit in for repair, and if they cant then you get a equal, or better ipod. Well they sent it in and returned it and it was a white Ipod, and my shit was black. I told em to send it back and they said they couldnt. So, I took the price of the 160 gig (at the time.) and it was equal to what I payed for the lesser one a while back. It ended with me walking out with a 160 gig and all I had to pay for was another warranty so I can fuck them over again

I asked if it covered accidental drops while purchasing the warranty, which was the same day I bought the MP3 player, because the sales rep said it covered everything so I wanted to make sure.

Anyways, I learned how to cheat the Wal-Mart warranty for TVs and shit and how to get a second TV from them. we had a training a few weeks back on the warranty we sell and the trainer said that first they try to repair the product. if it can't be repaired, they will replace the product with the same product, and if it can't be replaced they give you your money back. now, the loophole he pointed out is, if they replace of refund you, they do not require you to send back the old product. He said that when he talks to people, he literally tells them to keep the product and do whatever you want with it.

Example:

He had a customer that bought a 42" LCD tv. the sound stopped working, but the picture worked great. the customer called in the warranty, so they sent out someone to repair it. after contacting the manufacturer to get a new sound board, they were told that they no longer produce that one, and it would take roughly 6-8 months to get in a new sound board. They did not want the customer to wait that long for their tv to work again, so they replaced it with another 42" LCD. when the customer asked what to do with the old one, they said to keep it. well, it all worked out because their parents were deaf, so they gave them the tv with the bad sound board, and kept the new one.

My tv currently has an issue where it turns off for about 10-15 seconds every few hours of use... lets hope they cant repair it...
