I know all you brainwashed people are gonna vote Yes cus your "beliefs", but this is for everybody who is allowed to think for them selves.............

Dont let this shit pass. These church's "believe" that gay marriage is wrong, but is it right that we have to vote on a prop that is based on "beliefs"? I mean religion is just a "belief", so so we're letting these beliefs dictate law.........

And aint it funny (but not suprising) that these church's are supporting and sponsoring these add's about how gay marriage is going to get taught in schools if 8 dont pass. Its not about gay shit in school, so isnt that dicieving? mis-leading? isnt that a form of lying? These dudes are quick to break one of the rules to instill another. They dont have enough faith in the followers to just say "its not right"...........Im suprised these gay associations aint picked up on this hypocracy and ran with it...........

Unfortunately, it will probably pass

I personally don't like gays, however that's not for religious reasons, but rather because I've been raised in a strongly masculine environment where everything gay related has always been ridiculed. But in the same time, I think this is a personal freedom issue and this proposition should never pass. Actually, I have the feeling that a lot of people will vote "yes" not so much for religious reasons as much as for anti-gay reasons, without realizing it is a civil rights issue and not pro- or anti-gay. Which is very unfortunate...

ThaG:

I feel you. I honestly dont care for gays. But i also aint a hypacrite in the sence that i dont see nothin wrong with 2 bitches gettin down.........Your right, it probly will pass, but i think it will be because of these fake ass christians. Im talkin bout the ones who cherry pick the rules they want to follow.........

Im voting No strictly based on the fact that this prop is religious based, and once we let religion set one law, more are to follow..........

This is one of those bills that well go in history.

Normal men who are comfortable with there hetro-sexuality have no fear of gays and see no need to "Bash" them on any front - cause really? who cares? They ain't some army recruiting, they just want rights... homo-ism been around since bible days, and there's a lot of science that says it biological not by choice.

Historically people have been grossed out by many things: in the 70's it was illegal for interracial couples to marry, all the right to vote arguments. Quite frankly whoever opposes these bills will go into history as the closed minded bigets of our time, and a generation after you die people will shake there heads and wonder what the fuck was your problem

I don't have a problem with two guys getting married or doing whatever they want behind closed doors. I do, however, have a problem with religious nutbags trying to dictate the law and tell us what we can and cannot do. To hell with them.

I think the issue is that marriage originated with religion. And the traditional concept of marriage means the uniting of a man and woman. Now, if homosexual couples can get the same rights in a domestic partnership that heterosexual couples get in marriage, what is the issue?

We need to abandon the concept of marriage, if two people want to live together, they are free to do so. Official marriage is just a document (and religiously sanctioned marriage is even less than that)

This has to be one of the most worthless and biased threads I've had the displeasure of reading since I've been back.

@the OP, I'll just go ahead and kill your thread now.

You said:

These church's "believe" that gay marriage is wrong, but is it right that we have to vote on a prop that is based on "beliefs"?
This is your entire argument right here. Now answer this, what about the religious groups that do support gay marriage and said to vote no on 8? What about the non-religious groups that don't support it and said yes?

Just like you don't want religion in school (and neither do I but for different reasons) I don't want teachers pulling this shit with my folks:

Hey Einstein, when was the last time you took a proper poll to see who the majority were? Is it being pushed by "religion" or a vast group of "religious people"? If we are going to concern ourselves with the majority, which you mightly proclaim by thumping on your chest and replying to me, maybe this thread should be changed to No on 8/No on LDS (and various other CHRISTIAN sects.)

Also, if you aren't familiar with the Episcopal church, and their position on the matter that isn't my problem. Do you know how many "Jewish" organizations, and which "Jewish" organizations are pushing for a no vote? I'm sure you do. So stop with your fanatical mad scientist, let's blame religion for everything crap you post up in all but two of your threads. It gets old people.

And no my position on this has nothing to do with religion or beliefs. If God doesn't want gay marriage he should slaughter these niggas like Sodom and Gomorrah. I shouldn't have to wake up early in the morning to go vote on this shit.

I would like to see the polls

that's what I know:

According to the CIA,[3] the following is the order of religious preferences in the United States:

* Christian: (78.5%)
o Protestant (51.3%)
o Roman Catholic (23.9%)
o Mormon (1.7%)
o other Christian (1.6%)
* unaffiliated (12.1%)
* none (4%)
* other or unspecified (2.5%)
* Jewish (1.7%)
* Buddhist (0.7%)
* Muslim (0.6%)
clearly, the first two Christian sects include the vast majority of religious people in this country and they are strongly anti-gay
