Good pick by the Niners. This kid has a lot of potential. He's going to be playing outside LB so forget about the DE tag. They did reach by a couple spots, but who knows, better to get your guy than to not.

With the No. 7 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Missouri defensive end Aldon Smith, a 2010 All-Big 12 first-team performer.



The 6-foot-4, 263-pound pass rusher set a freshman record at Missouri recording 11.5 sacks. He only totaled 5.5 as a redshirt sophomore, but it was due to Smith playing with a fractured right fibula for parts of the season.
