Cam Johnson Traded; P-Squad Announced

The San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a trade with the Indianapolis Colts. The 49ers will receive an undisclosed draft choice in return for sending linebacker Cam Johnson to the Colts. Johnson must pass a physical in Indianapolis for the trade to be executed.

“We appreciate Cam’s efforts since joining our team a year ago,” said San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke. “He has continued to grow as a football player and we wish him all the best with his new opportunity in Indianapolis.”

The following players have been signed to the 49ers practice squad:

Chris Harper leaves Seahawks for NFC West rival 49ers.

Chris Harper leaves Seahawks for NFC West rival 49ers - NFL.com

The long-standing NFC East rivalries certainly have tradition on their side, and no matchup has been more brutal over the past decade than Pittsburgh Steelers versus Baltimore Ravens.

For sheer talent and unbridled intensity, there currently isn't a more riveting showdown than the one unfolding between the NFC West superpowers.

A source told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport on Monday morning that the San Francisco 49ers are expected to sign fourth-round draft pick Chris Harper off the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad. Per Rapoport, the Seahawks "fought like crazy" to keep Harper, but the 49ers ultimately won the bidding war.

The 49ers made the move official Monday afternoon, when they announced Harper had been signed to a three-year deal.

After the 49ers lost athletic H-back prospect MarQueis Gray on waivers to the Cleveland Browns, they apparently settled on Harper as the fallback successor to Delanie Walker. At 6-foot-1 and 235 pounds, Harper could see time at tight end as well as wide receiver.

Harper impressed the Seahawks with his physicality and athleticism at rookie camp, but he quickly fell behind receivers Jermaine Kearse and Stephen Williams in training camp. Harper will be a developmental project in San Francisco, with the hope that he'll evolve into a matchup problem down the line.

how do 9er fans feel about this new read option rule the nfl added where the quarterback can be destroyed until its obvious hes out of the play? they clearly added this to disrupt rg3, kaep and wilson. they think they need to slow down all the new black quarterbacks, obviously racist rule

Hawkins def has issues or the Titans wouldn't have cut him... Only person I'm sad to see go is Brian Jennings. Dude has been a solid pro and great team guy for many years...
I'm not sure why teams don't want that guy, he's a playmaker that is just as consistent as the average WR in the league. Titans prob cut him because they are actually deep on WR's believe it or not.
