I think the theory, forumula...whatever you want to call it, IS to knock Owens around. It does seem to work.
But Nitro is right...it is difficult to do.
Not because Owens is just so incredible that no one can stop him (he is good though), but because the Niners seem to run a system that allows him not get double or triple coverage.
I can't even count how many games I watched last year where Owens had only 1 guy covering him. Or sometimes he wasn't even touched until 10 yards down the field.
I'm sure some of this is due to bad defense, but it happened so much...I think it's the system in which the Niners run their offense. They know that Owens is their go to guy, and they do everything they can to try and free him up. Makes sense, yes?
