what it boils down to for me is lyrics vs. production. most of the emcees have stepped up their lyrical ability a lot since back in the day cause they maturin and pushin their creativity. so in that way theyre better, if not less raw and intense.

but wtf is up with 95% of the beats nowadays? why is it that almost any cali rap CD from 95 is good start to end, but almost any album put out now is garbage except for a few good tracks?

I know its 2009, but fuck this spaceage hyphee-influenced wannabe radio bullshit. go back to the gangsta funk. maybe i'm just livin in the past I dunno...

I'll say this......I think most of my favorite rappers from Northern Cali fell off at one point in time not cause of lyrics....

but because of beats.....in my book....a beat will make you or break you.

You might be spittin venom but if the beat aint on point....then the whole track is fucked...and then all I'm gonna do is push next.

If anything...I think most niggaz get better with time.....C-Bo did this....and Lynch...and a few others.....

But beat wise....in some cases its just not there like it used to be.

To those of you that think this thread is gay, stupid, dumb or whatever....

thats fine....keep it pushin.

I just wanted to see what other people thought besides me and the homies.

I didnt think it was gonna be a landslide like this.

Who knows....we might actually get a Mashin ass Bo album once its all said and done:siccness:

If any of ya'll have the time tho, check the myspace link.

In it contains elements that I deem vital.

Nah...but really...I posted a beat on there that I made just for this.

You might like it you might not.....but this is the type of shit I picture Bo rappin on.

If you cant then just imagine your favorite producer behind it on a re-make.

Im just fuckin around with this.

Y'ALL NEED 2 RIDE THE PRODUCERS HELMET INSTEAD OF HATIN ON REAL NIGGAS THEN..RAPPIN TIGHT ISNT THAT HARD...AND IN THE END YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE....SOME PEOPLE HAVE IN HOUSE OR BETTER OPPORTUNITIES AT GETTING QUALITY PRODUCTION...WE ALL GROW DURING OUR TIME IN THE GAME...IM WITH THE MOB SOUND BUT SO MANY PEOPLE HATE ON IT....DIFFERENT STROKES 4 DIFFERENT FOLKS...WHAT PEOPLE THINK COULD NEVER CHANGE ME..ONLY GOD CAN

Of course, but in the end the rappers pick the beats, no?! To me there are enough tight beats out there, but alotta rappers seem to pick bad ones...

(I'm not talkin about Bo, just in general...)
TRUE. IF A CD HAS WHACK BEATS THAT'S 100% THE ARTISTS FAULT (IN MOST CASES). NOBODY CAN FORCE A RAPPER TO RAP ON THIER BEATS

IF ITS SOMETHING WHERE ITS OUT OF THE ARTIST'S HANDS THATS DIFFERENT(LIKE WHEN LABELS PUT SHIT OUT AGAINST THE ARTISTS WILL, LIKE BMR AND LYNCH)

Producers gotta stay relevant too so they makin beats that sound more commercial. Bo could DEFINITELY use better beats but who's to say that most the beats he got access to are the shit? I'm sure the rappers we grew up wit aint sayin "No i aint rappin to that old bullshit" when it come to some mob-type beats and i doubt successful producers is doin them beats on a regular basis.
