Maybe Jamaal Tinsley, out of Bed-Stuy, or Rockets SG Von Wafer will prove me wrong. A source sez if Walsh wants Tinsley, he's got him because of their long relationship. J. T. considers Donnie a father figure. Miami and Charlotte will bid for Tinsley too.

Walsh has had advanced discussions regarding Rockets shooting guard Von Wafer, according to his agent Raymond Brothers. Wafer was a surprise last season, averaging 9.7 points. Ironically, the former 2005 Lakers' second-round pick played for the Knicks summer league team in 2008 and barely sawaction. A source said the parties were trying to arrange a Knick visit for Wafer, 24. Walsh is interested in a one-year deal, possibly for biannual exception ($2.9 million).

Yes! In possible fulfillment of this writer’s dream for the 2009-10 Euroleague season, Lithuania-based Basketworld.lt is today reporting that Olympiacos will be extending a contract offer to Allen Iverson. Reportedly, Olympiacos officials are ready to offer free agent Iverson a two-year, $10 million deal, “exactly the same proposal that was presented to Nate Robinson” earlier this year.

Forward Shelden Williams has agreed to a one-year contract with the Celtics, according to an NBA source. Williams is expected to sign a deal worth the veteran's minimum salary of $1.306 million. Williams, 25, was the fifth overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks after a decorated college career at Duke. He was a first-team All-American in 2006 and graduated as the program's all-time leader in blocked shots and rebounds.

The Knicks' interest in un-retired point guard Jason Williams, whom they will work out this week, has no effect on the Sessions pursuit. Williams is a cheaper alternative if they can't re-sign Nate Robinson for one year. New York Post

After establishing himself as a reliable contributor on the Celtics bench, Powe’s future was in question following a string of knee injuries last season. After missing 13 games with a right knee injury, Powe tore the ACL in his left knee during Game 2 of the first round of the playoffs against the Chicago Bulls. He missed the remainder of the postseason.

Wally Szczerbiak, who played with the Cavaliers last season, was an unrestricted free agent small forward. "Have you talked with the Nuggets?" I asked Szczerbiak, who was the sixth overall pick in the NBA draft in 1999. "Yes, they seem very interested in me, and I'd love to play in Denver. The Nuggets fit my style of play, and they're a championship contending team. I was impressed with all they did last year. But it depends on Kleiza."
But they need to add three players to reach the league-mandated 13 — Szczerbiak is one. They can resign Anthony Carter to a one-year deal, and they can bring in one or more of their summer league players on make-good minimum contracts. Ronald Dupree, a 6-foot-7 forward out of LSU, is a defender who had 22 points in one game in Las Vegas.

A source tells Sporting News that Budinger has agreed to a four-year deal with the Houston Rockets -- who acquired his rights from the Detroit Pistons -- that could be worth almost $3 million. The first two years of the contract are guaranteed, making the deal similar to those signed by first-rounders.

Jason Williams' comeback from a one-year retirement will move a step closer to reality Friday after the Los Angeles Clippers formally waived their exclusive rights to negotiate with him, according to NBA front-office sources. Following the standard seven-day offseason wait to clear waivers, Williams will then become a free agent, joining Jamaal Tinsley -- who was bought out Wednesday by the Indiana Pacers -- as a late but proven addition to the summer market for point guards.

Isaiah Rider is attempting a comeback at age 38, and according to his agent the Nets are considering bringing him into training camp.
Rider has had a checkered history with the law, and the NBA, where he hasn't played since the 2001-02 season. Despite the possibility of bringing him into camp, the Nets have said that they don't see him competing for a roster spot. A return to the NBA for Rider would be a longshot, at best.
