they need to make roids legal or we're gonna be seeing guys fight once a year while they're getting insurance $$
Real talk. Getting through a training camp healthy is not as easy as people think it is. I pull, pop, lacerate, hyperextend something every night during BJJ and that's just ONE session. Imagine professional fighters who train hours everyday. The human body is NOT made to endure this shit everyday for years and years. LEGALIZE STEROIDS AND MONITOR THEIR USE!

Big Nog Out of UFC 149 Fight With Cheick Kongo

Shawn Jordan replaces 'Big Nog,' meets Cheick Kongo at UFC 149 in Toronto
by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Jun 16, 2012 at 5:45 pm ET
With his broken arm still not fully healed, former UFC interim champ Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (33-7-1 MMA, 4-3 UFC) has pulled out of next month's UFC 149 event.

In his place steps Shawn Jordan (13-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC), who now fights fellow heavyweight Cheick Kongo (17-7-2 MMA, 10-5-1 UFC).

Sherdog first reported the scratch and Jordan's acceptance of the fight earlier today. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) confirmed Nogueira's withdrawal.

UFC 149 takes place July 21 at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The main card airs on pay-per-view, and FX and Facebook are expected to carry the prelims.

Jordan vs. Kongo is slated for the main card.

Nogueira was slated to fight for the first time since breaking his arm in a submission loss to Frank Mir at UFC 140. He underwent surgery soon after the December loss.

Jordan, a recent Strikeforce import, made his UFC debut and scored a TKO victory over Oli Thompson at UFC on FX 2 back in March. It marked the former LSU football player and current Team Jackson-Winkeljohn member's fourth win in his past five fights.

Kongo, meanwhile, looks to rebound from a disappointing loss to Mark Hunt at February's UFC 144 event. The surprising defeat snapped a four-fight unbeaten streak for Kongo (which included wins over Paul Buentello, Pat Barry and Matt Mitrione, as well as a draw with Travis Browne). The Hunt loss was the Frenchman's first defeat since a December 2009 loss to Mir.

Feijao Fails Post Fight Drug Test, Suspended One Year

Strikeforce's Rafael 'Feijao' Cavalcante fails drug test, suspended one year
by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Jun 16, 2012 at 12:15 pm ET
Former Strikeforce champion Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante tested positive for a banned substance following a victory over Mike Kyle this past month at "Strikeforce: Heavyweight Grand Prix Final."

MMAFighting.com reported the failed test, though California State Athletic Commission Executive Officer George Dodd didn't disclose the substance that was detected.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has been unable to reach Dodd for further details.

Strikeforce officials have not released a formal statement, but Cavalcante's manager, Ed Soares, told MMAFighting.com they'll "fight it," meaning an appeal is likely.

Cavalcante (12-3 MMA, 5-2 SF) submitted light heavyweight Kyle in just 33 seconds at the May 19 event, which aired on Showtime from HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

In addition to a one-year suspension, the CSAC issued the 31-year-old Cavalcante a $2,500 fine. The fighter earned a disclosed payday of $66,000 for the event, $33,000 of which came as a win bonus.

The victory, which is likely to be overturned to a no-contest barring a successful appeal, was Cavalcante's fifth in six fights. His lone defeat in the stretch came in early 2011 in a title loss to Dan Henderson, who eventually returned to the UFC.

The victory over Kyle was expected to earn Cavalcante a title shot against Gegard Mousasi for the vacant title later this year.

so maynard is a huge faggot. as if i really needed to break that news, like it isnt common knowledge amongst anyone with a brain.

Clay Guida looks a lot like Blanka from Street Fighter. Until last year, he was the only guy in the MMA who fit that description, but now there’s Jonathan Brookins and Ben Askren – both of whom are Blankas-in-training. Guida's swagger clearly inspires people to let their hair down and be the best Blanka they can be. As a fan of old school video games, that’s a message I can get behind. Unfortunately, the New Jersey State Athletic Commission hates Blanka, Ryu, Dhalsim, E. Honda, Guile, Ken, Chun-Li, and Zangief. They have decided that any fighter who resembles them must alter their appearance before competing in the state of New Jersey. Clay Guida is the first fighter we know of to be punished for looking too 'Capcom' to compete, but he will have to braid his hair if he wants to fight Gray Maynard this Friday at UFC on FX in Atlantic City.

Nick Lembo, council for the NJSACB, suggested that Guida’s long hair could potentially be a distraction to his opponent. He had the following to say in a conversation with MMAJunkie regarding the UFC veteran’s decision to comply with the commission’s request:

"He doesn't want to do it, and I don't believe he's 100% happy about it, but he's being very understanding and very cooperative about it and he agreed to it. Otherwise, if he said, 'No, I'm not going to do that,' we'd have to have a hearing on it and let both sides present their case and have a commissioner's ruling on the issue."

Rumors suggest that it was Maynard’s camp that asked for the commission to address Guida’s hair, but when asked about it, Gray said

"I never filed a complaint. This was the first I've ever heard about it."

We’re not sure if Clay Guida’s hair is distracting because we’ve never fought him; we’ve only had cheeseburgers with him. What we do know is that his hair doesn’t get in the way of him eating cheeseburgers, and in the grand scheme of things, that’s all the NJSAC commission should consider when asking him to alter his coif.
we all know maynard is behind this. after bendo smashes on that midget frankie again i hope those 2 (frankie & gay maynard) start their own league & endlessly fight eachother until the entire mma world dies of boredom.

it's funny because when I used to work with Jason he always said Maynard's the one guy he wouldn't let Clay fight because they'd hung out together and Maynard looks like he's two weight classes above him. And he thought he was a douche. But Jason thinks everyone but Wiuff, Sonnen and Big Nog are douches so I dunno lol

Rousimar Palhares replaces Luiz Cane against Yushin Okami at UFC 150

Another day, another UFC injury.

Luiz Cane (12-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC), who was expected to make his middleweight debut at August's UFC 150 event, has been forced to withdraw from a planned matchup with Yushin Okami (26-7 MMA, 10-4 UFC), UFC officials today announced.

Stepping in for Cane is Brazilian submission ace Rousimar Palhares (14-3 MMA 7-3 UFC).

Featuring a lightweight title fight between current champ Benson Henderson and former title holder Frankie Edgar, "UFC 150: Henderson vs. Edgar II" takes place Aug. 11 at Denver's Pepsi Center.

The evening's main card, which is expected to feature the new Palhares vs. Okami fight, airs on pay-per-view.

Palhares looks to rebound from a disappointing loss to Alan Belcher at May's UFC on FOX 3 event. "Toquinho" saw a three-fight win streak snapped when Belcher shucked off Palhares' signature leglock attacks and earned a first-round TKO in impressive ground-and-pound fashion.

Meanwhile, Okami looks to snap a two-fight skid after dropping back-to-back outings against Tim Boetsch and Anderson Silva. While Okami never was a threat in the title fight with Silva, he was leading comfortably on the cards over Boetsch when "The Barbarian" launched a furious third-round come-from-behind assault.
