Middleeasy.com's Sunday Morning Rumor Mill

- Nate Marquardt was cut from the UFC due to a prexisting condition that he tried to hide from the athletic commission. The commission discovered it, alerted Dana White and due to Marquardt's previous knowledge of the condition, he was fired for trying to 'pull one over' on the UFC.
- Nate Marquardt was cut from the UFC because it was perceived that when he was medically ineligible to fight, he 'sabotaged' future television negotiations and, in short, the UFC didn't appreciate it.
- Nate Marquardt was cut from the UFC due to some sort of 'treatment' that the UFC was aware of. Marquardt allegedly abused this therapy, the levels were too high and the commission pulled the fight.
- Paul Daley vs. Tyron Woodley is verbally agreed on and it will be for the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title.
- The 'altercation' that occurred between Ken Shamrock vs. James Toney was a previously agreed upon publicity stunt to garner interest in the fight.
- Another rumor is that James Toney and Ken Shamrock have agreed to 'let' Toney win by submitting Shamrock with a knee bar.
- Before Mark Pavelich decided to sell MFC, two Canadian promotions were going to 'team-up' in order to 'take down' MFC. Now that MFC has forfeited their position in Canadian MMA, there will be no need for this.
- Spike TV's attempt to counterprogram UFC on Versus 4 is exactly what you think it is.
- One of your favorite MMA commentators will be moving to a new organization in Asia within the end of the year.
- Crazy rumor, but I was told that preliminary talks with Royce Gracie have begun in order to fight Sakuraba in Japan on Dynamite!! 2011. Earlier last week, Sakuraba stated that he would be interested in participating in a future DREAM show.

Marquardt's on Helwani's show with his lawyer right now
http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/06/28/the-mma-hour-with-nate-marquardt-in-studio/

gist of it is going into the Dan Miller fight last year he was feeling bad and went to his doctor, found out he had low testosterone and his dr. recommended testost. replacement therapy. He cleared it with UFC and the New Jersey Commission said he could do it for the fight but had to retest everything after. He stopped taking it after the fight, then about a month ago his doctor said he should get back on it because he was sick with mono. He took it for 3 weeks leading up to the Story fight, then his levels got too high and his doctor told him to get off of it. So then the Penn. commission wanted to test him and he couldn't get his level down enough and he knew he was fucked. He said he barely missed the cutoff and his levels are already back at the legal limit for fighting today.
Sooo he's either really unlucky about all of this and Nate seems like a good guy so I'd take his word for it, or he got caught roiding up.

Let that be a lesson to everyone. Lie about taking TRT like Sonnen and you'll keep your job. Be up front about it like Nate and get fired.

The only problem I have with this story is he has tested positive in the past. Now past test do not make all future test positive, but it does not help someones story when the sam etype of issue comes up again.

yeah the more he talked about it the more is seemed like BS. Tomas Rios was going nuts on twitter about how rare low testosterone is among people under 40, especially amongst athletes. The craziest part is Dan Miller didn't even know Nate was on it for their fight, he just found out about it when we all did. So the New Jersey Commission is looking shady as fuck now as well.

Here's the first 9 minutes of the interview

Brenneman's on now.

Nate Marquardt released his official statement regarding being suspended for elevated levels of testosterone and consequently released from the UFC. Sure it would be nice to see Marquardt compete in the UFC, but let's not overlook the potentially massive opportunity that we all have to look forward to: Hector Lombard vs. Nate Marquardt. The middleweight division never looked so tastier.

"In August, 2010 I was diagnosed with very low testosterone levels. I initially went to a Primary Care Physician because I was feeling sluggish, lethargic, suffered memory loss, and felt over trained when I knew I should not have been. That physician placed me on a hormone replacement regimen after I consulted the UFC.

Prior to my fight in New Jersey in March, 2011 I was told by the New Jersey athletic commission that I would be allowed to fight, but I would be placed on suspension immediately afterward. The suspension was levied because the paperwork submitted by my Primary Care Physician appeared to be incomplete and the treatment regimen I was placed on was not within the standard of care, nor approved by, the USADA guidelines. I was told the suspension would be lifted once I had been off treatment for at least 8 weeks and pending approval from an endocrinologist that the HRT was necessary based off of several blood tests.

I complied with all the requirements of the New Jersey commission and stopped all treatments. During this process I kept everyone informed of my progress and my testosterone levels fell below the reference range. My previous symptoms of fatigue and lethargy then became worse. The endocrinologist that I was seeing recommended I resume hormone replacement therapy.

Based on his recommendation, my Primary Care Physician started a new treatment roughly three weeks prior to the fight in Pennsylvania that was more aggressive than before due to the close proximity of the fight. My Primary Care Physician administered treatment in an effort to get me to levels that would be appropriate for someone of my age and within acceptable limits for the fight. Two weeks after I resumed treatment I was tested to see where my testosterone levels were. These test results showed that my levels were high. I consulted my doctor who indicated I should stop treatment, which I did.

Looking back I should have been more diligent and ensured that my levels were monitored immediately after I resumed treatment to ensure that I was within the required limits. Coming into fight week I discovered that my levels were still high, so I had myself tested daily and communicated those results to the UFC and state athletic commissions. My test results indicated that my levels were trending down with each test. Unfortunately I did not meet their standards by weigh in day and was suspended.

The day of the fight I took a test and was told that levels were within the reference range. Yesterday (Monday, June 27th) I consulted with one of the doctors from the Pennsylvania athletic commission who administered another test, which showed that my levels had dropped even further. I have shared all test results with the Pennsylvania commission and spoke with them today and was told that it appears that I have satisfied all requirements to have my suspension lifted within the week.

It is important that we put my suspension in perspective. I was notified this past Saturday that I would be placed on suspension. This morning (Tuesday, June 28th) I was notified by the commission that it appears I have already satisfied the requirements to be removed from suspension. So in a little more than 72 hours the issues relating to my suspension have been addressed. This is one reason I waited a few days to address the public. I also did so in order to be with my family and friends and to collect my thoughts. I had just been fired from my job and embarrassed at not being able to fight on Sunday.

I take full responsibility for all of this. The Doctor was not fighting. The commission was not fighting. I was the fighter and I was the main event. I knew I had to be within their required limits to compete. This was my fault. I have hurt my fans, friends, and family. I have hurt Dana White and the UFC and I apologize. I’ve always had a great working relationship with the UFC and Dana White in particular.

I want everyone to know that I would never intentionally jeopardize my ability to provide for my family. I have two children and a third on the way. My family was with me in Pittsburgh. Of course it’s a nightmare and very stressful and unimaginable in certain instances, but at the same time, I lean on my faith in God and the support of my family. I still feel very blessed."

-Nate

Brett Rogers Arrested for Choking and Punching Wife

Tough-to-read news from the world of mixed martial arts today as Minnesota fighter Brett Rogers is facing several charges of domestic assault after police say he violently attacked his wife Wednesday.

Rogers, 30, has been charged with third-degree-assault, domestic assault by strangulation, a pattern of stalking conduct; all felonies. He was also charged with the endangerment of a child.

Official police reports indicate that officers were dispatched to the Rogers home in Apple Valley, MN at approximately 12:35am on Wednesday evening, when a caller reported hearing yelling, a female screaming, and glass being broken from a neighbor’s home.

Rogers stated to police that he had argued with his wife and that she hit him during the argument, so he hit her back. Rogers had no visible injuries on his body. The report also adds that his breath smelled of alcohol and that he admitted to consuming alcohol that evening.

A neighbor reported that he had looked out his window and saw Rogers standing over his wife, repeatedly punching her in the head and face as she lay on the ground. Another neighbor stated that he saw her with blood “streaming from her face and mouth” with what looked to be a missing tooth.

Rogers’ nine-year old daughter saw the incident unfold and yelled at her father to stop. Rogers’ ten-year old daughter was also present and witnessed the attack, admitting that she had seen her father strike her mother in the past. She also reported that her father had struck the children within the last two years.

Rogers’ wife, T.R., was located by officers walking by a nearby school with injuries on her face that included a golf ball-sized bump above her left eyebrow, injuries to her ears and jaw, a missing tooth and numerous wounds to her neck and back.

She repeatedly denied that she was assaulted and said that she had simply fallen on the ground.

Paramedics were called immediately due to what were described as serious injuries to her head. She was transported to a nearby hospital and released the following afternoon.

Both children told a neighbor whom they had been staying with that they were afraid to go home and that their father had “choked” them in the past.

An officer attempted to speak with T.R. on Thursday, but she refused, telling him that the assault was her fault.

Rogers made his first court appearance on Thursday. His bail was set in the amount of $100,000,with conditions. His next court appearance is July 1.

Brock Lesnar In Serious Business Negotiation With WWE

Heyman and Lesnar have either made a deal or at least are in very serious negotiations to have a business relationship with WWE. In the case of Lesnar, it is not to wrestle and as far as what we’ve heard, would also not be as a television character. Heyman would be as best we can tell, similar to the Lesnar deal, but mentioning either name right now would not be something forbidden, plus it also works in the sense people watching don’t know that.

The storyline of Lesnar coming in as an outsider and challenging for the title at Mania and Vince being afraid a non-contract shooter would take his title elsewhere would be far more money (particularly with Heyman as the mouthpiece as Heyman, like Punk, is one of the few people who could pull this angle off), than a guy who was doing even-Steven booking with Rey Mysterio a few weeks ago on the Money in the Bank (a show that did not do well last year on PPV even though it was one of the better shows of the year in the ring) show. But the argument is that it will be a long time, logically Mania in 2013 at the earliest and if Lesnar can make a successful UFC comeback, longer than that, before that angle could have been done and I don’t think they ever think that far in advance on what ifs that are far from guaranteed to ever happen.
