Ummm what??? James Tony was the one who started the MMA vs Boxing thing......he says that's why he approached Dana in the first place. I swear, some of the shit you say makes me laugh.
Tony is alone in that. He did it for money. He talked, really hustled, his way into the UFC. He couldn't land any fights in boxing, he couldn't get on HBO or Showtime, he couldn't even get on ESPN! That's how far removed from stardom he is. His last PPV was about 10 years ago. On top of that he's shot fat and old. Tony did and said what he had to in order to sell himself, as a product, to make money. He's done that his whole life, in boxing, even though you're a fighter you have to act as a promoter as well, entertain people, talk shit, etc.

Its always been known Dana would never co-promote with any sport or organization .
I'm sure Roy Jones would have fought Silva under 100% promotion of the UFC in a boxing event. Point was dana said silva couldn't box while under contract. And he has that right, I mean, would you want your best fighter taking a risk like that? Not if your dana white.

I think the point some people make is that dana is quick to accept a james toney and invite a floyd mayweather into mma but he wont allow any of his guys to step into a boxing ring.

Smart business man, just sayin.

Absolutely, I was just telling the retard that it's not just Dana hyping up the "MMA vs Boxing". They're both doing it to sell the fight. I bet you they do huge numbers too.

Hmmm, I suppose they could have done a UFC boxing match, but like you said, Dana is a smart business man.

If they wanted to make better money the Silva vs. Jones fight would have happened. Fact is he knew his fighter would lose making mma look bad

Of course he would. Just like Couture will most likey beat Toney. What's your point? Do you think there's anybody out there that thinks Silva would win that fight? Difference is, you don't see Dana chasing Jones around insulting him and begging for that fight. Toney did. Dana didn't even want to do it at first but after Toney begging him for so long he said "fine". Again, you just don't use your head and think outside the box sometimes. Hell, you don't even have to think outside the box here. I guess ignorance is bliss.

You have no point here, that's why you couldn't state one lol. Show me a youtube video or link where Dana is "badmouthing" boxing. I'll wait.

is this is a serious request? lol dana has badmouthed boxing for a long time. Not as much recently but he went on for several years talking about how bad boxing is, etc. He would always start with "I'm a fan of boxing BUT..." then go on a rant about how shit boxing is. That's him being a promoter though I understand that.

He was talking about the ratings and fan interest. He wasn't saying "MMA fighters are 'better' than boxers" which T-Rip is trying to say. BIG difference.

Not in the context of what you're trying to say, no. Never head him say something along the lines of "MMA fighter gets in a fight with a boxer, MMA fighter wins", unless it's under MMA rules. He's talking about the growing of the sport, the QUALITY of fights put on by each sport, and general fan interest. Just because he thinks MMA fights are more entertaining and the sport is gonna pass boxing in fan interest doesn't mean he needs to do a "boxer vs MMA" fight, which is what you're saying.

Me as well..waiting..........

He has said numerous times he is a fan of boxing he also got his start in boxing.

I like boxing and other than him bad mouthing the promotions and bad mouthing the way boxing has been the last couple of years he doesn't. The same stuff he says about boxing is the same stuff I hear from boxing fans.

Just got done watching the countdown. Even though Couture is the heavy favorite, I really wouldn't be surprised if Toney KO'd him. I can see Couture shooting fora takedown and catching a vicious uppercut. I also don't think dirty boxing is the way to approach this fight. Again, uppercut. Either way, I cannot fucking wait for saturday. It's not only just because a boxer is making the crossover, I just enjoy watching good strikers anyway, always have. I wish I could fall asleep tonight, and wake up on saturday!

Yep, I can see JT Ko'ing Randy. He used to Kp people with 10oz gloves, so I am pretty sure KO'ing someone with 4oz gloves would not be impossible. I will be rooting for Randy but I do not think this is a sure thing for Randy.
