It's going to happen since Mayweather/Marquez fight is postponed until September, it's just a matter of finalizing the date (late Oct or early Nov) and figuring out if the fight will be at 145 pounds or 144 pounds.

Awesome fight! Two of my favorite fighters and honestly, I'm glad, Mayweather can wait. I guarantee Pacman vs Cotto will be more entertaining than any fight Mayweather has ever been involved in. I see Cotto get KO'd late.

Yeah, Cotto looks a lot more human after that beating (loaded gloves or not) by Tony.

I think a lot of the mystique that he carried was wiped out with that loss, and it even shows in the ring. He's always looked vulnerable in fights, which is one reason that I enjoy watching him fight.

I think this is a great fight, and will be easy to make since both guys are under Top Rank, and Cotto, like Pacquiao, is pretty much willing to fight anyone.

This will definitely be a more exciting fight, IMO than the Mayweather fight.

Can't wait !

I gotta go to this one...on the sole strength of the beautiful Puerto Rican women that will be in the building !

Oh, and I'm thinking a late round stoppage for Manny...well, I'm not 100% sure.

Cotto will be the biggest and strongest fighter that Manny will have ever faced, and he is a devistating body puncher.

Something about Cotto's punches looked off to me against Clottey. They lacked power. And I know Clottey is made of Iron, but it wasn't that he couldn't hurt Clottey (I didn't think he could) it's more that Cotto's punches seemed like they lacked some steam or pop. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think Manny has to worry too much about Cotto's power.

I don't think Shane could get down to 144 pounds and honestly, I think cotto/pacman would be bigger.

On a side note I heard Bernard Hopkins is pissed off at his partners at Golden Boy and HBO, something about how he's mad at how they've been treating Mosley and how they put Mayweather above everyone else, Hopkins apparently is pretty pissed off. I'll post more as gather more info...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I really think he lost a lot of his edge after he got beat down. I think losing the way he did is possibly worse than getting one punch KO'd because of the psychological effects of it.

But he does have a pretty solid jab, which if anything, is a good way to offset the in & out movement of a guy like Manny.

What weight is this going to be at ?

I think 144-45 would be fair. Cotto looked absolutely drained at 140, and I don't see him getting any lower than 144 without being a zombie in the ring.

^^good point about the jab. For some reason Cotto kind of abandoned it against Clottey midway through.

144-145 is what I'm hearing. 144 is fair to me since Cotto weighed in at 146 against Clottey, he will just have to shed two extra pounds which I don't think will effect him much. Pacman will have to gain 4 pounds. Actually more, he weighed in at 138 against Hatton and that was after eating two breakfasts!

pacquiao is not gonna eat cotto alive like some of yall think, he doesnt have the defense like Clottey does. I say Pacquiao will win but Cotto has a legit shot at hurting Pacquiao enough to stop him. Cotto will also be able to land his jab a lot more cuz for once he will be the bigger fighter

pacquiao's defense is underrated, he's much more elusive and his footwork is amazing. Back in the day he lunged forward which left himself open and he was often off balanced, Freddie Roach has really corrected those areas and Pacman moves in & out beautifully.

But you're right, Cotto has a great shot. If nobody else has noticed, Cotto seems to be best when he's against smaller guys or same sized opponents that he can enforce his strength onto, he struggles when he cant do that against big tough guys like Margarito and Clottey.

Cotto and Pacman's height and reach are about dead even. Cotto will out-weigh Paman by 10-15 pounds, but that wont matter imo because Pacman's speed, accuracy, timing, footwork, elusiveness and overall athleticism will be the difference imo. Pacman is better in every area and some can make the argument for harder punching as well because much of punching power comes from timing, speed and accuracy. There have been people that sparred with Margarito and Pacquiao who said Pacquiao was the harder puncher.
