I'm still buggin out that Floyd announced he was fighting Cotto then took it down lol He's trolling everyone.

I wonder how many idiots signed up for Shots just waiting on this stupid fight. For as dumb as Floyd seems like he is, he's a mastermind of certain business aspects or at least has some really smart dudes around him telling him what he should do.

Floyd has no clue, man. This was his first real investment into a tech company. One of his friends asked him to invest in the shops app, this is how it happened LOL:

Floyd Mayweather/Shots
The champion boxer threw a cool million dollars into a “selfie” app; it’s the first and only time he’s invested in a tech venture. Here’s how it happened.

The man they call “Money” Mayweather tossed a Louis Vuitton gym bag full of cash at his friend and former employee.

The friend refused. No no no, he said. That’s not how you invest in a tech startup.

Yes, this is actually what happened when John Shahidi asked Floyd Mayweather if he’d invest in Shahidi’s selfie app, Shots: Mayweather agreed, then tried to hand over most of his investment in cold cash, because, after all, he happened to have quite a lot of it with him, in a bag. (He had just won a large bet on a Philadelphia Eagles game.) But Shahidi had to turn down Mayweather, who for all his earnings (he makes, on average, a minimum of $32 million for one boxing match; sometimes as much as $70 million thanks to his cut of the Pay-Per-View returns) may not have a great deal of experience with more formal investment procedures and board-room meetings. “Champ, we can’t do it that way,” Shahidi recalls telling Mayweather. “There has to be paperwork.”

Top Rank Approved For May 1 Show At The Cosmo

By Jake Donovan

All signs continue to point towards the reality of Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao finally squaring off in a superfight more than five years in the making. The likely date will be May 2, with a hold already place on the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Once the event is finalized, additional fight week plans will begin to roll out. To be included on that list will be a May 1 show down the strip at The Cosmopolitan. The Nevada State Athletic Commission granted approval for Top Rank—Pacquiao’s promoter—to host a show on that evening during its monthly agenda hearing Tuesday afternoon in Las Vegas.

Top Rank has customarily held a show—usually on ESPN2 Friday Night Fights—during Fight Week whenever Pacquiao has fought stateside on a major Pay-Per-View event.

The NSAC also teased the possibility of a forthcoming Mayweather-Pacquiao announcement, with Commissioner Tony Marnell mentioning “a possible $200 million fight that might occur.”

Any such fight announcement will likely come from Mayweather himself through his verified Shots account. From there, press releases from his publicity team and that of Top Rank’s press office*—as well as that of the network(s) involved with the event—will outline further details of the event, which will likely go down as the most lucrative in boxing history.

There has not yet been any indication of who would headline Top Rank’s May 1 show. Unbeaten 140 lb. titlist Jessie Vargas has been a fixture on past such events, although he is among a handful of backup options for Pacquiao should “the fight” not occur on May 2.

A busy morning has caused me to hereby raise the #MayweatherPacquiao threat level to red. There is severe risk this fight will be finalized.

Dan Rafael ✔ @danrafaelespn
If #MayweatherPacquiao is gets done PPV will be 3 bouts. Main event & Top Rank & Mayweather Promotions each make 1 fight of their choice.

Dan Rafael ✔ @danrafaelespn
Also if #MayweatherPacquiao gets done price of PPV will be greater than usual but I am told the exact price has not been set yet.

$100 I think is worth it, if they had an undercard like they did for Mayweather vs Canelo. The only thing bad about this is it can hurt the amount of people that will buy the fight. It won't reach 3 mill like they say it will but if it were 75-80 dollars, then yeah it will, plus they will pocket more money.

$100 would be PPV suicide. Well, maybe not that dramatic but I think it would hurt the PPV buys a lot.

I knew this would happen though when Mayweather raised his PPV for Canelo to $70 because it was such a big fight, but then his PPV stayed the same price after lol. $80 tops, which is still absolutely absurd if you really think about it. Boxing needs to get back to the $50 ppv and half that for the PPVs that are just OK.

Anyways, whatever, just announce the fight already.

As usual, we don't agree lol This is the one rare instance where I don't think it'll hurt sales that bad. I think the number of people that watch the fight would be the same. For fights like this, the casual fan isn't going to order it solo at their house anyways. This is the type of fight where multiple people are going to be getting together to watch it, or going to BWW and stuff like that. This hurts the hardcore fan more than the casual fan obviously, but it's the one fight that can get away with it.

Having said that, a lot of the other ppv fights should only be like $29.99 to $39.99. 59-69 is ridiculous for most other PPV fights.

I don't know man, I think there would be a lot of sticker shock at a $100 PPV. I also think there is a good chunk of people who do order PPVs by themselves. Maybe 20% maybe more. At a $100 a good chunk of people wouldn't order.

It's completely unnecessary to raise the cost. There expecting the 3m mark, factor in all the bars and casino's that pay way more money for the PPV, plus movie theatres and closed circuit. Plus the gate obviously will break records. No need to fuck with that. Could result in not quite as much money as they predict.

Not as much ppv buys, but the money would be huge. If they get 2.5, which is what I think it will get with a decent undercard, it will break records. But the possibility of 3 mill all depends on how the undercard looks like. Too bad Haymon is too worried about PBC and Rosado Stevens is headed to BKB when ME should have had them fight a while back. Maybe a Khan Maidana rematch or Rios vs Ortiz?

It's going to break records regardless so why fuck with it? That's just pure greed. There are X amount of people who are going to buy it no matter what. But you put that $100 price tag on it, that number could drop.

The undercard really isn't going to affect the PPV buys at all. No one is going to care if they put on a couple of really good fights because this is all about PBF-PAC. Khan/Maidana/Rios/Ortiz isn't going to put a dent in the overall buys. The fans of those fighters are already going to be watching this fight. People are buying this for the main event.
