I honestly think Floyd wants to fight Manny more than Manny wants to fight Floyd.

Everytime somebody asks Manny about fighting Floyd he always says "I don't know why he don't want to fight", and he says this after Floyd said "I want to whoop his punkass" years ago. I think it's Manny that doesn't really want the fight. I think he'll fight Floyd (if his promoter lines him up) but I don't think it's one that Manny really wants.

When you call a person out, and say you want to fight them, then turn around and say you NEVER said it what is that?

^ Setting a date and reserving a venue is far from making a fight, and especially being that they didn't actually call anyone out. C'mon bruh. You're reaching...even for you.

That's called a contradiction, but let's not talk about contradictions because Arum (Pacquiao's promoter/mouth piece) is king of contradictions.

But then you set a date and a time to fight the person you called out?? Your point is what again???
MOREBASS. Read his response.

Arum isn't fighting. What I originally quoted (your post) has nothing to do with Arum, fam. It's basically who is scared of who? You can't call someone out and then say you never said it, and then when they are about to fight, start calling them out again and doing little things that make it appear like you want to fight.

I hear you bruh, we'll see what happens or if Floyd goes back on his words (again).... I doubt it though, seems like Floyd is getting tired of people saying he's scared of Pacquiao, that's why a date has been set and the MGM Grand is on hold...

It's a step in the right direction.... it's better than taking off for a vacation right?

Floyd is asking Pacquiao to take a step forward and make it happen.

He's available May 5th, period..... if Pacquiao wants the fight, he himself should just come out and say it.

Roger Mayweather: Floyd Needs To Focus On Pacquiao

As initially reported by ESPN.com, it looks as though Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be making his return to the ring on May 5th of next year inside of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. While there is nothing official as of yet, it does seem that Mayweather and his team are interested in landing a fight against WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao.

It’s a scenario that has been played out before, dating back nearly two years ago, as sides to both fighters twice failed to finalize the possible super fight. With Pacquiao soon to be 33 years old and Mayweather set to turn 35 in February, this very well could be the last chance for the posturing to end and the bout to become a reality.

Mayweather's Uncle and trainer Roger was spotted today at the Mayweather Boxing Club and after working the mitts with a quartet of fighters, he shared his thoughts on his nephew’s return. Asked if he was surprised to hear an announcement of Floyd’s next fight so soon following his September 17th knockout over Victor Ortiz, Roger denied as much.

“No. Floyd returned because Floyd’s been laid off a long time,” said Roger of Floyd, who has fought three times since December of 2007. “He’s been laid off seventeen months one time and he’d been laid off another twelve months one time, or something like that. At this age he wants to be more active so that’s why he’s probably returning. He’s returning before he’s too old to whip Pacquiao’s ass.”

Despite having obvious admiration for one another, Roger and Floyd go long stretches without speaking, with one of the reasons being because the younger Mayweather seems to always be traveling from one city to the next. Roger himself is much more reserved as very rarely leave his bases in Las Vegas but understands why Junior has the urge to get up and go.

“I mean, what are you going to do?” Roger asked. “If you make that kind of money you have to travel. You have to get out and get away from boxing and focus your mind on something else other than the boxing world. But Floyd knows what he’s got to do and when he comes back he’s going to put the work in.”

There had been whispers of negotiations taking place between Mayweather and Sergio Martinez, the lineal middleweight champion of the world. The 37-year old Argentinean has been on a grand run late into his career but Roger wasn’t paying him much attention in case a backup plan was in order if the Pacquiao fight were to fall through.

“Floyd aint got to worry about that mother******,” Roger said of Martinez. “Floyd already won a junior middleweight title. Floyd needs to focus on what he needs to do. He needs to focus on the fight that he has coming and he needs to focus on Pacquiao. He needs to focus on Pacquiao and get ready for Pacquiao.”

Meanwhile, Pacquiao will be defending his title next Saturday against Juan Manuel Marquez, also at the MGM Grand. Pacquiao battled Marquez to a split-draw in May of 2004 and nipped him via split-decision nearly four years later in March of 2008 and is considered a huge favorite heading in.

Roger’s prediction for Pacquiao-Marquez III?

“It will be a hard fight because they’ve fought two hard fights twice. I don’t think it’s going to be any different than when they fought the first two times. I think those guys are just made for one another and that will make the fight that much harder because Pacquiao got to prove to him that he beat him the first two times. Those fights were very close, so now we’ve got to see what he can do,” stated Roger.

Roger went on to add that he could see Floyd fighting four or five more times and that his legacy would be intact even if he retired tomorrow. But whether he is fighting or not, Roger sees Floyd staying close to boxing regardless.

“I think that he’ll be around the gym because he likes the gym. He likes being around people and he’ll be back in the gym. Even if he aint fighting he’ll probably be training or messing with little kids. He’ll be in boxing anyways whether he’s fighting or not.”

So lets see.... Floyd returns from vacation to fight Ortiz (who is top of the WW division and is a southpaw) and knocks him out. Fans, etc... speculate that Floyd is preparing to fight Pacquiao and is using Ortiz as a tune up.

Now it appears Floyd is staying active and wants to fight within a year of his last victory. His team releases a statement, stating that a date has been set and a venue is on hold and they also mentioned a "little fella" and fighting the biggest fight out there giving the fans what they want.

Now Uncle/trainer Roger has come out and says "who" Floyd would be focusing on.

Read between the lines idiots, Floyd is ready for Pacquiao!!

Yes, clearly because Bob Arum is thrilled that Floyd took the lead and booked a venue & date. :ermm:

I'm glad he's staying active and wants to fight soon, but if he really wanted the Pacquiao fight, he would have waited until after November 12th, and started negotiations then.

Do you really think Bob Arum is going to want to negotiate a deal and give Floyd's team the pleasure of choosing the venue & date before they even BEGIN to talk?

Theres always an excuse to be made. Manny is God, he'll win in Vegas, Phillipines, or Egypt wherever remember? Whatever happened to being called out and you go fight? Floyd's got a better record anyway, why not play on his turf?

I realize this isnt normally how boxing works, but for real just make the fight happen. Both parties know how important this fight is for each fighter, fans and just for boxing. Cut the fucking excuses and make the fight happen.

Manny, you've been called out sir. How will you respond?

btw I don't think floyd should be praised for being "active" I mean, that's what he's supposed to be doing not fighting once every 1-2 years. Don't get me wrong, that's great he's fighting in May (better than say Sept or whatever), just sayin he should have been active all this time. Could have fought cotto, margarito, etc. etc. etc.

Anyways, I'll believe it when I see it. For some reason I had a feeling floyd was going to fight Sergio Martinez next. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. I'm going to give floyd and pac the benefit of the doubt for now, but wont keep my hopes up too much (like I did before).
