Now Manny should KO Bum Bum Rios in 6 rounds. But now that random drug testing is being used I don't know how Manny will like at all. Plus add in Marquez KO'ing him last fight. Manny has all the pressure on him. If Manny doesn't brutalize Rios in under 8 rounds it confirms to me that Manny was juicing.

This fight should be a war.

Stop bringing up the whole juicing talk man. As much as I would love Rios to win, Manny is too tough and too experienced for Rios. Floyd don't KO nobody even when they are dehydrated so what's the point? Bradley vs Manny will not happen if Manny wins even by KO, I believe. He will call out Floyd after this fight but he might fight Alvarado if Alvarado wins. I do see Bradley fighting Marquez instead tho since JMM is talking retirement cuz of a "bad decision." Rios has one of the strongest chins in the game so no Manny does't have to win by KO either

How can not bring up PEDs when Manny duck random testing to make a mega fight Only to turn around 3 years later after getting KO'ed asking for random testing. If Manny loses this fight the questions about PED will haunt him even more. Drug testing will be talked about of 24/7 so get used to hearing about it.

Rios does not have one of the strongest chins in boxing stop it with that crap. Rios has never faced anyone with one punch KO power in his whole career and that's a fact.

FYI, why are you talking about Mayweather for he has nothing to do with this.

You brought him up by saying Manny is juicing cuz only one person has accused manny of juicing and that's Floyd, u are just agreeing with him. and we are not going to hear about the drug testing like what you think cuz drug testing was a huge issue with Marquez since the KO and HBO only gave that topic attention for like 2 mins in the Bradley JMM 24/7 and Rios has no problem with testing with USADA so there really is no issue to talk about.

That's a silly argument that if Pacquiao doesn't destroy Rios that means he was juicing. It could simply mean Pacquiao is older now with a lot of wars, and of course getting KTFO in his last fight. He's been a pro since 15. Don't forget Pacquiao is the one who requested the drug testing. Shit, if there were ever a time to juice it would be now after a devastating loss.

If Manny loses to Rios he will go down as a cheater, because he refused random testing to make the mega fight. Manny has all the pressure on him to win this fight and look good doing it.

I personally think that strength and conditioning coaches are over rated in combat sports. what really matters is a fighter staying in shape and taking his craft and health serious. Rios is a young and talented boxer with raw skills which make him dangerous but I always viewed fighters like him and Broner as bullies tho. They were fighting at 135 when they should have been fighting at 140 or 147 a while back already. Now they are both struggling to adjust to bigger weight classes all because they worry about winning easy title fights over becoming some of the best fighters out there. Fighters like Mayweather, Pacman, JMM, even Donaire all stay on the top of their class and on top of p4p lists cuz they stay in shape year round. Idk that's just my opinion

Lol. At Donaire is one of the main guys draining himself to fight smaller guys. Once again Donaire is a overrated HBO made hypejob. You do know that Donaire was 15-20lb heavier then Rigo on fight night. Once Donaire moves up to 126 and 130 it's over for him.

That's cuz he wasn't training with his trainers, he was attending his wife cuz she was pregnant. He was out of fighting shape and he lost. his other fights tho he usually gains like five pounds or so but usually in fighting shape.

Rios: F*** Max Kellerman and Everyone Counting Me Out!

lol

By Luis Sandoval

Bam Bam Brandon Rios spent his Sunday afternoon hosting a charity event for his foundation Momentum 4 Life as well as Padres Contra Cancer in Westlake Village. Fans and supporters had the opportunity to mix and mingle with Rios with all proceeds from the event going to help both foundations.

While Rios was focused on his event, he still took time out to talk about boxing and his upcoming fight in China versus Manny Pacquiao on November 23rd. Rios is confident he will be victorious but he has been recently bothered by the critics not giving him a chance in this contest.

More recently he pointed out that after Ruslan Provodnikov defeated Mike Alvarado this past Saturday night, many were already talking if a Provodnikov and Pacquiao fight would be possible making it seem like a Pacquiao win over Rios was a foregone conclusion.

“F*** Max Kellerman, that motherf*****r and f*** everybody that’s talking about Pacquiao-Ruslan, they’re already counting me out! Everybody is counting me out. Everybody thinks I’m a tune up fight for Pacquiao. So Max Kellerman thinks that too so f*** that mother***er. He’s always talking sh*t, saying stuff in my face like ‘Oh Brandon, you’re this, this and that. You’ve won this and that’. He’s a f***ing pretender” fired off Rios as he spoke to BoxingScene.

“I don’t give a f*** if HBO makes you say sh*t or not, you don’t say [that type of] sh*t. Nobody makes me say sh*t but me. So at the end of the day that’s f****ing bulls**t”.

Rios mentions a lot of media members are guilty of the same thing as well as doubting what he will be able to do against Pacquiao. Despite all the doubts, Rios reminds he will prove everyone wrong in November and that he’s never an easy out for anyone.

“They’re counting me out. Everybody is going to find out November 23rd, don’t count this motherf***er out because this mother****er is not easy to go. He’s a rock solid mother***er and he comes to fight. He comes with his balls and he’s ready. I’m going to show everyone to never count me out” stated Rios.

The Pacquiao fight is 5 weeks away and Rios already looks to be in great shape.

Ariza Shakes Head at VADA Testing in Pacquiao-Rios
Posted by: Edward Chaykovsky on 10/22/2013 .

By Edward Chaykovsky

Strength and conditioning coach Alexa Ariza is not exactly satisfied with the testing schedule for next month’s HBO pay-per-view headliner.

Ariza currently works with Brandon Rios (31-1-1, 23KOs), and he previously worked for several years with eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38KOs).

Rios will challenge Pacquiao on November 23rd at the Venetian Resort in Macau, China.
VADA [Voluntary Anti-Doping Association] is in charge of the random drug testing protocol for the fight.

During the weeks of training, Ariza says Rios has been tested twice by VADA, but they have yet to test Pacquiao and have no plans to do so until the boxer arrives to China.

"Brandon [had his] second test by VADA [on Tuesday]. VADA just confirmed they have yet to test Manny and there are NO plans to test him until China. That's fair. [Rios's trainer] Robert [Garcia] asked them why only Brandon, they [no testing of Pacquiao] until China," Ariza stated.

Ariza says he is "definitely not suspicious of Manny," but doesn't believe VADA is testing both fighters on an even level. Pacquiao is currently training at General Santos City in the Philippines and theoretically his geographical location might be playing a role in VADA being able to test him. This is the first time in Pacquiao’s career where the boxer is taking part in a random drug testing protocol.

VADA testing is full of shit. VADA is Top Rank testing no wonder GBP don't fuck with them anymore. So Manny is allowed to juice again. 4 years later and Manny still hasn't been randomly tested. Lol..

According to Ariza. The guy recently fired by Pacquiao and now working for his opponent.

GB don't mess with VADA because it busted two of their fighters and cancelled the show. The other testing agency they used hid the fact Morales tested dirty in order for the Garcia fight to continue.

Let me school you with fact. The VADA hide Peterson's failed test for a month from GBP and the commission until the week of the fight. Causing the fight to fall apart. USADA told The commission then GBP right when Morales popped dirty they saved the fight and Morales is banned from boxing in the USA for two years. The USADA can also test fighters all over the world via WADA. Again the VADA is HBO/Top Rank testing and its bs because they can't test fighters from around the world and they don't have the power to ban cheater for two years. Facts are facts. Lol. At VADA random testing but Manny only gets tested a week before the fight. 4 years later and still no random testing for let the commission do their job Manny.

At least get your facts straight:

In March 2012, Lamont Peterson and Amir Khan submitted applications to VADA pursuant to which their blood and urine were tested in conjunction with their scheduled May 19th fight. The first samples were taken on March 19th, the only day on which the fighters knew in advance that they would be tested.
*
On April 12th, VADA was advised by the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory that Peterson’s “A” sample had tested positive consistent with the administration of an anabolic steroid. On April 13th, the Peterson camp was notified of that fact by FedEx and email. In keeping with VADA’s protocols, Peterson was given one week to challenge the “A” test result and ask for his “B” sample to be tested with one of his representatives present.
*
The Peterson team waited eight days (until April 21st) to respond. Then it chose to challenge the positive test result, asserted its right to be present when the “B” sample was tested, and asked that the “B” sample be tested on Friday, April 27th. The UCLA laboratory advised VADA that Friday was an inappropriate day to begin testing because four consecutive days were needed to complete the test.
*
The testing of Peterson’s “B” sample began on Monday, April 30th. On May 3rd, VADA was advised by the laboratory that this sample had also tested positive. The Peterson camp was so notified by FedEx and email on May 4th. That same day, VADA also sent a letter by FedEx and fax to Keith Kizer (Executive Director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission) stating the facts of the matter.
*
The Peterson-Khan rematch was canceled.
*
Richard Schaefer was livid at the way in which drug testing for Peterson-Khan II unfolded. Golden Boy was to have promoted the fight, and he felt that VADA should have notified him as soon as Peterson’s “A” sample tested positive.
*
Margaret Goodman says that, after Peterson’s “A” sample tested positive, she asked Lamont’s attorney (Jeff Fried) whether there was an agreement between Peterson and Golden Boy that authorized VADA to release the “A” test results to the promoter.*Fried told her that no such authorization existed.
*
Ryan Connolly is counsel for VADA. In the late 1990s, he was the business manager for the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory. He’s now an attorney in private practice with an expertise in PED testing in the context of competitive sports. In that role, he oversaw the process outlined in a May 10th document titled “Statement of VADA.”
*
“When VADA became involved with the Peterson-Khan fight,” that statement reads, “the individual athletes signed up for the VADA program and executed the proper documentation. VADA was told that GBP [Golden Boy Promotions] also wanted a contract so that GBP would be authorized to receive the testing results, including the preliminary results from an ‘A’ sample analysis.*In order for VADA to release the preliminary ‘A’ sample results to a third party such as GBP, VADA requires an executed authorization allowing us to do so. VADA sent GBP a draft contract for its signature which would have authorized the preliminary ‘A’ sample results to be released to GBP.*This initial draft, which was never signed, contained a clause pursuant to which GBP would have represented that it had obtained the necessary authorization from the fighters.*GBP’s legal team rejected this clause and instead suggested making the fighters signatories to the contract with their signatures being the necessary authorization.*VADA’s counsel made it clear to GBP that, if GBP wanted to handle it this way, GBP must take responsibility for obtaining the athlete’s signatures.*Unfortunately, GBP never obtained the signatures. The bottom line is that VADA had no contract with GBP.*This is not a mere technicality. It involves issues of medical ethics. VADA needed a signed contract in order to deviate from its Results Management Policy (posted on our website) and release the preliminary and personal medical information to a third party.VADA would have been happy to inform GBP of the preliminary ‘A’ results. But we needed a signed authorization allowing us to do so, which we never received. VADA has complied in every way with all signed contracts that we had and will continue to do so.”
*
Dr. Goodman elaborates on that theme, saying, “As per our contracts and protocols, VADA gives certain test results to the athletic commission in any jurisdiction where the fighter holds a license or a request for a license is pending. We also release certain results to FightFax, the Association of Boxing Commissions, and whomever else the athlete asks us to release them to. We’d be happy to release any and all results to a fighter’s promoter, but we need an authorization from the fighter to do so. That‘s the law and those are the terms*in the Results Management Policy posted on the VADA website.”
*
As a postscript, the Peterson camp later claimed that Lamont had tested positive because of the surgical implantation of “testosterone pellets” to correct a testosterone deficiency known as hypogonadism.
*
That led Ryan Connolly to observe that more than a few elite athletes suffer from hypogonadism and note, “This may seem odd since these athletes are physical specimens. How can they be so muscular and fit but have natural testosterone production deficiencies at a higher rate than ordinary people? The dirty little secret is not necessarily that these athletes are lying about their hypogonadism. The dirty little secret is the likely cause of the hypogonadism in the first place - past anabolic steroid abuse.”
*
Meanwhile, even before the Peterson controversy subsided, a new controversy was brewing. Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz had submitted applications for VADA testing in advance of their scheduled June 23, 2012 fight. On May 11th, Dr. Goodman was advised by the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory that an “A” sample urine specimen taken from Berto had tested positive for norandrosterone (an anabolic steroid) at a level above the permitted amount.
*
On May 12th, following VADA protocols, Goodman notified the Berto camp. Berto was advised by FedEx. Tony Morgan (Berto’s trainer, who had been listed on notice forms as a designated recipient of information) was advised of the finding by email, as was Al Haymon (Berto’s manager).
*
Dr. Goodman’s email to each recipient read in part, “VADA urges you to immediately notify Golden Boy Promotions [the lead promoter on the fight], DiBella Entertainment [Berto’s promoter], and the California State Athletic Commission of this positive “A” sample finding by forwarding each party a copy of this notification so that it is received by each party as quickly as possible but no later than 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 14th. Please confirm to VADA in writing that you have forwarded a copy to each party by that time.”
*
The requested confirmation was not forthcoming. Instead, on May 14th, Dr. Goodman received a letter from Howard Jacobs (an attorney retained by Berto), who warned that telling anyone other than Berto’s representatives about the “A” sample positive could result in “civil liability on the part of VADA.”
*
On May 15th, Goodman sent an email to Al Haymon that read, “Dear Al, as you are aware, Mr. Berto has asserted a medical privilege insofar as VADA is concerned. I would think that you will be held personally accountable by Golden Boy Promotions and DiBella Entertainment for your failure to notify them of this issue in a timely manner. Please advise us with regard to whether or not you have notified GBP and DBE. Thank you,*Margaret Goodman.”
*
There was no response.
*
That same day, Ryan Connolly sent an email to Howard Jacobs urging similar notification.
*
On May 18th, Dr. Goodman was advised by the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory that Berto’s “B” sample urine specimen had tested positive. VADA then notified Berto, his designated representatives, and the California State Athletic Commission.
*
Haymon, in turn, notified Richard Schaefer. Lou DiBella says that, despite the fact that he was Berto’s promoter, neither Schaefer nor Haymon advised him that Andre’s “A” and “B” samples had tested positive until plans were underway to replace Berto as an opponent for Victor Ortiz with Josesito Lopez (another Haymon fighter, who was promoted by Golden Boy in conjunction with Goossen Tutor).
*
“How do you think that makes me feel?” DiBella asked rhetorically. “I raised the issue with Al afterward, and he didn’t say anything. That told me all I needed to know.”
*
Haymon, like Richard Schaefer and Travis Tygart, declined to be interviewed for this article.

USADA red flags:

In mid-May, Winky Wright was preparing to fight Peter Quillin in a June 2nd bout promoted by Golden Boy at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.
*
“Everybody kept popping up positive for all this stuff,” Wright told Montoya. “Boxing isn’t always a fair game. I figured I should get this [testing] too. So I called Golden Boy and said, ‘Why we ain’t doing it?’ They was like ‘Uh, etcetera, etcetera, this and this and that, and someone didn’t want to pay.’ I said ‘Okay; I’m going to pay for it. I just want to play on the same field.’”
*
Wright and Quillin entered into a May 21, 2012 contract with Golden Boy and USADA pursuant to which USADA was to provide drug testing services in conjunction with their fight.
*
“I didn’t know the difference between [USADA and VADA].” Wright says. “I just told Golden Boy I wanted to be tested and they came back with USADA.”
*
On or about May 23rd, USADA collected blood and urine samples from Quillin. Wright gave samples on May 24th.
*
“They came to my house at six in the morning,” Winky recalls. “They took urine, blood, everything.”
*
Then, without warning, Wright was told that the testing was off.
*
“I think it was like two days later,” Winky told Gabriel Montoya. “Golden Boy called and told Damian [Ramirez, Wright’s manager], and Damian told me. I don’t understand it. All I’m asking is, ‘How do you take urine and take blood and then, all of sudden, you say you aren’t going to test it?’ Then they tried to make up an excuse and say they wanted to teach us. There ain’t nothing to teach. They took blood. They told us we would take a test and either come up positive or negative. That’s it. All I want to know is, are we playing on the same field? So my lawyer called and asked for it to be tested and they told him they threw it out. They told my attorney they threw it out. That’s crazy. Why would they throw it out? They just finished [taking samples] and they’re going to throw it out already? Does this sound crazy? We gave samples. Let’s test that and let me see the result. They threw it out. I just don’t understand that.”
*
Quillin-Wright went ahead as planned with Quillin winning a unanimous 10-round decision. Quillin, like Andre Berto and Floyd Mayweather, is managed by Al Haymon.
*
The contract that Wright and Quillin entered into with Golden Boy and USADA specifically provided, “USADA will be responsible for storing the samples after collection and transporting them safely and securely to a laboratory for analysis…USADA will send all samples for analysis to a WADA [World Anti-Doping Agency] accredited laboratory under contract to USADA…USADA shall maintain Sample Collection Documentation, including test results for testing conducted under this Master Agreement, for a period of six years.”
*
“The destruction of samples isn’t supposed to happen,” Ryan Connolly states. “If that happened in an Olympic context, it would set off alarms in a lot of places. There would likely be a thorough investigation by the International Olympic Committee and WADA.”

Laughably, USADA “sanctions” Erik Morales months after he fights despite two failed drug tests

By Kevin Iole March 22, 2013 7:57 PM Boxing

The United States Anti-Doping Agency released a stern-sounding statement on Friday announcing that it had sanctioned boxer Erik Morales for two years as a result of two positive tests for clenbuterol, a banned performance-enhancing substance.

USADA pointed out that Morales tested positive on both Oct. 3 and Oct. 10, as he was training for an Oct. 20 match in Brooklyn, N.Y., with Danny Garcia.

In its release, USADA noted that it is occasionally hired by fighters and/or promoters to conduct testing because the sport does not have any regular testing program.

Professional boxing does not have a universally-implemented, WADA-accredited anti-doping program, and as a result of the lack of effective testing, many professional boxers and event organizers have contracted with USADA to conduct comprehensive anti-doping programs prior to and during their fights.

This, though, is what is laughable: Morales fought Garcia in that Oct. 20 show. USADA knew that Morales had twice tested positive. So did Golden Boy Promotions, which promoted the show. So did the New York State Athletic Commission, which sanctioned it. And so did Showtime, which broadcast it.

None did a thing about it.

VADA confirms Pacquiao has already been tested as well.

VADA Reps Shake Heads At Ariza's False Accusations
Click Here To Email Printable version Search BoxingScene Database*

By Jake Donovan

You’d be hard pressed to find a happier soul on the planet than Dr. Margaret Goodman on the day that Manny Pacquiao and Brandon Rios were on board to allow the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) to conduct random drug testing throughout training for their upcoming November 24 showdown in Macau.

“VADA is of course thrilled to have Mr. Pacquiao and Mr. Rios support clean sport through their involvement in PED testing,” Dr. Goodman said back in May when both fighters enrolled in the program.

Just short of a month away from the fight, the founder of VADA is fuming mad over false allegations made by strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza.

A former member of Pacquiao’s team, Ariza is now working with Rios to prepare the California-based brawler for next month’s super fight. He managed to find enough time to speak to Boxingscene.com’s own Edward Chaykovsky, claiming “VADA just confirmed they have yet to test Manny Pacquiao and have NO plans to test him until (arriving in) China.”

In the same article, Ariza claims to not be suspicious of his former client, but insists that Rios is being held to a higher standard in regards to current testing. An excuse was erroneously afforded by Mr. Chaykovsky that location could be an issue (Pacquiao is currently training in the Philippines).

Dr. Goodman was more than happy to clear the air on the subject, even while understandably troubled over unsubstantiated claims made against her organization.

“VADA is easily able to test athletes internationally,” Goodman confirmed. “We readily tested Mr. Khan in the Philippines when he was training at the same camp as Mr. Pacquiao. So, from a logistic standpoint, there isn’t an issue.”

Where there is an issue, is with her organization being dragged through the mud without facts to support such claims.

"That is a blatantly false and unsubstantiated story. Pacquiao and Rios have been tested by VADA, and any further information should be obtained from the fighters' respective camps, Top Rank, and the commission in Macau, China.”

The bout with Rios marks the first time that Pacquiao has agreed to unconditional random drug testing for any prize fight. Rios’ involvement in the program puts him deeper in company with training and managerial stable mate Nonito Donaire, who was the first fighter to enroll in VADA’s program on a year-round basis, regardless of whether or not he had a fight scheduled.

“Any athlete willing to participate in an unannounced random PED testing program will greatly improve safety for the participants and set an example for others,” Dr. Goodman says on the subject. “So little is understood by many regarding PEDS, that publicly demonstrating this type of commitment by the fighters and Top Rank is what our organization is all about.”

Pacquiao and Rios have been eligible for testing as of September 12, the date on which both fighters were enrolled into the program.

If I recall correctly last year I think HBO came out saying they weren't fucking with GBP cuz they are up to a lot of shady corrupt shit behind the scenes and that's why they weren't fucking with them no more. Then GBP accused HBO and TR of shady practices as well. It seems like everytime though GBP is the one looking crazy as fuck with DLH leaving to rehab and having Mayweather fighters test positive and getting away with it. Now everyone is accusing everyone of juicing bbut the only one that matters is Pacman, who has never tested positive. T
