Because Shane was at the top of the ww division at the time... Pac didn't fight Shane while he was on top, now that he's washed up, he's being mentioned as a possible opponent.

And some people just can answer some simple questions. I listed the pattern in which they choose who Manny is fighting next. Whoever is the loser of there last big fight will fight Manny. Mayweather beat him up/ looked like crap in his last fight = Mosley is fighting Manny next. If Marquez looks like crap in his next fight Manny might fight him..

I don't know it's up when I click the link. Only downside is you can't fastforward (or at least I didn't figure it out) and floyd sr. comes on after bernard hopkins and you know how bernard loooooves to talk (which is a real good interview too).
I was able to FF. All I did was put the pointer where I wanted to and it was all good. I listened to a Floyd Sr interview and he was saying his son was gonna beat the shit out of Pac. But he also called his son a "faggot bitch" and "coward" for apologizing for his comments.

dumbest shit i heard today came from Bernard Hopkins and saying Pac Man dont fight black fighters

Would a black boxer stand a better chance against Manny Pacquiao than his most recent competition?

“
Floyd Mayweather would beat Manny Pacquiao because the styles that African-American fighters -- and I mean, black fighters from the streets or the inner cities -- would be successful.

”
--Bernard Hopkins

Bernard Hopkins believes so. And while boxing fans wait -- and wait -- for Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KOs) and Floyd Mayweather Jr. to finally agree to terms for a fight, Hopkins is asserting that a black fighter's style would give Pacquiao more of a challenge than Antonio Margarito was able to muster against Pacquiao on Saturday night, according to a story on Fanhouse.com.

And Hopkins -- who said he's voicing what other black fighters and fight fans are thinking but reluctant to say -- is wondering why Pacquaio hasn't fought Mayweather "or any other top-notch black fighter," according to the report.

"Floyd Mayweather would beat Manny Pacquiao because the styles that African-American fighters -- and I mean, black fighters from the streets or the inner cities -- would be successful," said Hopkins, according to Fanhouse.com. "I think Floyd Mayweather would pot-shot Pacquiao and bust him up in between the four-to-five punches that Pacquiao throws and then set him up later on down the line."

Pacquaio fought and defeated Joshua Clottey of Ghana earlier this year, but Hopkins discounted that win, saying "Clottey is 'black,' but not a 'black boxer' from the states with a slick style."

“
The selection of opponents for Manny has nothing to do with race, creed or color. It's all about business. And they can cry all that they want.

”
-- Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz
The Pacquiao and Mayweather camps have twice tried and failed to set up a fight between the two, despite predictions it would become the most lucrative bout ever. The first set of talks broke down in part over disagreements about Olympic-style drug testing.

Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz strongly denied that Pacquaio is ducking anybody of any color or background, according to the report.

"The selection of opponents for Manny has nothing to do with race, creed or color," Koncz said, according to the report. "It's all about business. And they can cry all that they want. It's all about economics, now, with Manny's career.

"We have the luxury of doing that because Manny has proven to the world that he's got nothing left to prove. If there are any boxing people out there who doubt him, then, to hell with them," Koncz said, according to the report.

Bob Arum, who promotes Pacquaio, said he has heard that argument before, according to the report. He also denied Pacquaio is ducking anyone.

"I have heard that, yes. A lot of people don't articulate it. But a lot of people, in effect, hint at it. But you're absolutely correct, and there is no argument there," Arum said, according to the report. "The notion that he would not fight an African-American fighter is ridiculous."

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Benard just stating the facts he don't... He's beat up every race and every country but he never got in the ring with a african american. Not to say he's scared cause Im sure pac-man would whoop 95% of the usa black boxers around his weight class. But the fact is he hasn't. I still believe floyd would get em and sugar shane would give him a run for his money...

bernard is obviously trying to get a fight for his good friend shane mosley and his trainer nazim richardson. remember, hopkins is the one that made shane bum rush floyd after the marquez fight in the ring. he's trying to bait pacquao/bob arum.

at least that's what I think.

If marquez happened to be black this would be a non issue. Marquez fights more like a "black american" then a lot of black american's these days. If that even makes sense or if there is even such a thing/style.

But as far as pacquiao not fighting african american's, it's mainly because there really aren't many african american's in the lower weight classes. There was ONE guy that could have fought Pacquiao and that was Zahir Raheem. The problem there is Morales beat pacquiao, they agreed on a rematch but morales fought Raheem first and lost. Pacquiao fought morales anyway to avenge his only loss in many years and then raheem lost to Freitas and then things kinda fell apart from there.

Now that pac is at a higher weight class there happen to be more african american fighters but pac just moved to 147 last year, so there is floyd who doesn't want pac right now, mosley who is old but pac will probably fight anyway and andre berto.

but what would fighting Shane prove for Pac..that he can beat a african american..then Bernard will say he aint from the streets..hes black but not from the streets..Pac has beaten everyone Shane has and those that beat him..No matter what excuses will be thrown out no one wants to see a little Asian guy roll through all his opponents...The only fight i want to see is Mayweather and Pac...

How many worthy black American fighters were at 135, 140 or 147 while Pac was in their division? All that comes to mind is Shane (not a boxer at this point in his career) and Paul Williams (hasn't fought at 147 since Pac fought De La Hoya.)

You could make the argument that Alexander and Bradley look very promising at 140, but they weren't hardly known by hardcore boxing fans, much less casual fans when Pac fought Hatton

This is one of the few times that I have had to agree with what Floyd Sr. is saying.
Manny's ability to take punches stands out more than anything to me. I don't think he uses anything, I am just shocked by his ability to take those shots. At least 4 or 5 times in both his fight with Cotto and Margarito I have said to myself "I can't believe he just walked through that punch".

Morales is a bad dude...

part 2 ep 100 Floyd Mayweather Sr. interview

From On the Ropes Episode 100: Floyd Sr. now demands that in addition to the previous blood testing demands, Pacquiao must consent to having members of Mayweather's camp visit him during training to observe him at any time. Of course, Floyd would allow the same

some quotes:
"I tell my son not to fight him... I have my reasons why i don't want him to fight that man"

"My son if he fights that little man, I'm concerned for my sons life"

"I can't believe Pac took out Hatton in two while my son took him out in 10 rounds."
havent seen the interview but u serious?? hahahaha i expected him shit talking if anything wow

He was probably on hella coke. He kept repeating the same shit over and over but maybe it's because of his age. But yeah his dad is sick though. I'll listen tot he BHOP interview tommorow. But as far as what he's saying about Pac, I do see a difference in the way boxers from the inner city fight, but I don't think Pac is scared of any black boxers, nor do I think this is a race/color thing. At any given point all it takes is a punch and it's lights out.
