For the first time since maybe 02, i didn't buy Madden on the first day. I bought NCAA 08 the morning it came out, and have been blown away by it. I'm more than satisfied with it, and might not buy Madden for a while. I'm afraid that if Madden won't compare to NCAA, I'ma have a $60 paperweight collecting dust in my living room.

It's damn near the same exact thing as NCAA. Same playcalling modes, menus, screenshots, setup. I still trip whenever I'm not playing and the guy from ESPNews is giving all of the sports reports for the day, with the ticker running at the bottom of the screen.

I'm Lovin it...yeah it's not perfect but it's the best madden's that's come out for the next gen systems...and I can't remember the last time I played Madden football that had so many GAMEPLAY improvements...

Only thing I do hate is all these corporate sponserships..sprint, under armor, espn radio....fuck with all these big corporate names in the game you think they could knock 10 or 20 bucks off the price...

im very impressed with the new game. I got it for the ps3. The weapons feature is a great new feature. The Niners are actually decent in this game which is great for me, I don't like playing with any other team and i was getting whooped on line. I like the radio annoucers. Madden is still in the game on the ask madden section and thats all he needs to be. I have respect for the guy in real life but in madden games he gets anoyying. Al michaels would piss me off too. Anyway I love the new game, big improvement from last years

IGN did a head to head for Madden 08 on 360 and PS3

This paragraph is taken from the Graphics head to head....I found it very funny that the PS3 doesn't even output the game to 1080i or 1080p for that matter....720p is the best resolution PS3 can output Madden 08????

Then there's the look of the game which, unlike NCAA 08, is much better on Xbox 360. Colors are more vibrant, players look a bit more detailed, and there's none of that haze over the field that we mentioned in our Video Head-to-Head. Toss in the fact that Xbox 360 outputs at 1080i while PS3 is restricted to 480p and 720p. That means that you have an inexpensive HDTV, chances are that it won't support a true high definition resolution if you're playing on Sony's system. Chalk up another win to Microsoft and their Xbox 360 in terms of graphical fortitude

i really just dont understand why they take something that work great and ruin it....
1) you can see what your opponent picks on ps3 and 360, as where it used to be three plays and you push a button.
2) radio commentary is horrible
3)the mini-games were one of the funnest things in the game... especially swat ball and where you pass through the gold and silver rings
4) how come theres no cheer leaders? i guess theyve been gone since like 2004 but still....

the sportscenter radio during menus is nice though, and seeing scores at the bottom, i got it on ps3 i dont see any frame problems i like the graphics and gameplay a lot i guess thats what really matters

That's because EA chose to make the game shitty for the PS3. It's not like the PS3 can't handle 60FPS or 1080i/p.

I decided to buy it for the PS2 though (at Toys R Us). The Madden 08 on the PS3/360 is still too watered down for my likings. I like using things like formation shifts, slide protection, quick audibles and there's a few more things that the PS3/360 versions left out. Overall I think it'll still be a lot more fun to play on the PS2/X-Box, it's better for the hardcore gamers I think. Next year I'll buy it for the PS3.

i thought they would bring back Madden and Al Michaels as the announcers. That radio shit is cheap and gay sounding. When I played madden and had them two as the announcers, it just had a more "real football experience" for me. Hell, all my old uncles would hear the announcers while me and my cousins play and they would be like "Hey I didnt know theres a game today, whos playing!?"

I got it for the PS3 yesterday, only played a couple games.

First off, the radio announcers suck, but I knew this was going to be the case b4 I got it. I just don't understand wtf EA is thinking in regards to that.

Overall though the game seems really good. Lots of new features, it's going to take a while to learn some of the new shit especially on defense, I can already tell. The main thing is the game runs a lot smoother than the 07 versions. They really added on ton of shit it seems, so the game is very in depth. I started franchise mode and noticed the training is a lot different. You can select several people before a game and work on different things. They training was pretty cool - a lot better than 07, although I couldn't figure out to bench press. Tackling is much improved and a lot more realistic, same with catching/running the ball.

There are a few lil annoying things though - the radio announcers for one. I really don't like the Next Generation of menu's - seems hard to navigate and slightly confusing at times but I'm sure I'll get used to it (07 on the PS2 was perfectly fine). I'm sure there was something else but I cant think what

The graphics seem really good. I heard if you compare it side by side to the 360 version you will be able to notice a difference, 360 being better, but looks good to me. The game runs smoothly - haven't noticed any glitches or delays after the play ends or anything like that so that's a good sign.

One thing that was dope is that I completed a pass to a receiver that was running an out to the sideline, I caught it and hit the wrong button, my guy turned and pitched the ball to my running back that happened to be nearby and I ran and gained an additional 10-15 yards. The pitch didn't seemed forced or weird in anyway and it turned out looking like a perfectly designed play. I can tell with certain plays you can really use this to your advantage.

I'd agree with gamespots rating of 8.5 (but I need some more time to really tell).

Anybody else get a SHITload of fumbles and INT's?
I read the game review on gamespot prior to playing and it was saying there is noticeably more fumbles, but makes it more realistic. I didn't really notice it (yet).

I played two games so far, they went like this:

Bears vs Green Bay
I scored 2 interceptions against Farve, but when he was under intense pressure. I also forced a fumble.
Rex Grossman threw one INT, when I was running (seems pretty accurate considering grossman cant throw for shit on the run in real life).

Bears vs Texans (pre-season game).
2 total fumbles in the game.
3 INT's thrown with my back up QB Brian Greise.
2 INT's against their backup QB.

I read that most of the fumbles come from special moves or whatever, so you have to be more careful about what you're doing. Like if your a small elusive back and you try to use a power hit on a big ass defensive linebacker. You may fumble or get hurt.

I did notice more injuries it seemed after big hits. But all of them were minor injuries and the players were back in the game after a series or two
