well shit if yal wanna take it back to pit bull history, white folks trained them to hunt and kill black folks. fighting and all that aggresive shit is in there blood, people always try to say that there pitbulls is the nicest animal in the world....lets see what happens when a stranger comes toward the dog, i bet he wont be so friendly.

i always hated dogs, but i use to fight my pits just for the hell of it and some money......i use to have a few red noses and such but ended up having to get rid of em, for 1 that got to big for me to handle and the rest just went berserk. i knew this 1 cat who use to put gun powder on his pit bull dog food. he said it made there brain hella bigger and made them fucking crazy ass fuck, what a dumbass haaha

mark my words tho, call me an idiot if u want to, but i bet u pits will be out-lawed,

COME ON NOW ... used to hunt and kill slaves ??? ... THOSE WERE BLOOD HOUNDS not pitbulls ...
And they were used to track run-away slaves , not "hunt & kill " ... now nowhere in that link does it say this , but it is well known ...

...cruelty to animals sickens me... shits weak.
^^^^ I agree Kalyn it sucks when people mistreat their pets. My family used to raise Pitbulls, we never abused them and they never attacked anybody. This was back in the '80's. We had them from the time I was 10 until after I graduated high school.

ive raised pits too....

its hella sad about the boy... fuck...

im not tryin to play devlis advocate... its just kinda funny how more then 80% of attacks claimed to be pitbull attacks, are NOT pitbulls...

and pitbulls wernt trained to "eat slaves" or whatever was being said earlyer... if you really want to know history on pits, the breed american pitbull terrier wasnt even established until the late 1800's, and still was more of a mut strain then a pure one..

and they were bred specifically to NOT be people mean dogs, since they were always being handled by different people (breeders, handlers, opposing handlers in the wash down before the match) and most of the best match dogs were also the family dogs... infact, the people mean dogs were almost ALWAYS terminated....

dont get me wrong, there ARE people mean dogs in the breed, but the ratio of people mean dogs to friendly dogs is extreemly lopsided, with the friendly dogs being more prevelant...

id be MUCH more afraid of a poodle or cocker spaniel, the two most common dogs to actually BITE a human, over dobermans, rotts, and yes, PITS...

I feel terrible for the boy that died and his family.
On a side note: The other day I was dog sitting a dog that I didn't know. It was a pitbull mix, very chill dog. We were at UCB on the lawn; there was a youngish couple with a little girl, about three years old. All of a sudden the little girl comes over to the dog and starts screaming and making jabbing motions towards the dog. I knew right away that the dog wasn't going to be cool with that, so I moved the dog away. She continued her actions and eventually the dog growled and barked at her. In his way warning her to stay back. I had control of the dog the whole time and he wasn't close enough to bite her, but it still made me nervous. Even after three times of this happening - girl screaming at dog, dog growling - the parents didn't say SHIT. They didn't call their kid back to them or even yell at me because the dog was growling at their kid. They didn't even seem to notice that their kid could have been in danger. I tried to speak with the kid and let her know to stay back and to quiet down, but there was a language barrier. There are bad dogs, and good dogs that can do bad shit, but people should be alert at all times. Especially when a child is around a dog. Bad shit happens out of nowhere and its up to people to be responsible with their pets and children at all times to avoid senseless things like this.

^^ yeah I've got a few friends with pits and theyre all nice as hell.
And when I was little I was bitten by a Boston Terrier (In the face) and a Chow

I work for the Humane Society here in Seattle and Ive been bit 3 different times(a combined 57 stiches) twice by Chow Chow's and once by a Lab Rott X. Chows are by far the most people aggresive dogs that come in. That bein said I own a Chow=) aswell as a AmericanBulldog which I might most people that see her think she s a Pit. 90% of the time when a Pit is aggressive towards people its a Pit mix. Cuz like ole boy already said they were bred to be animal agressive and had to be non human agressive or they were put down. They had to not only be handled by their handler but the opposing dogs handler (who was a stranger) awell. Also so they could be easily broken apart without serious injuries to the the handlers.

I would much rather jump into a backyard with Pits then 1 with a GermanSheppard or Rottie or Chow or Akita or Dobie etc.

I got this from DogBreedInfo.com

People are breeding without care for stability - in fact these thugs want an unstable dog that would think nothing of being a weapon. This is NOT the majority of dog owners of these breeds in question. This is the minority who cause troubles with other things such as guns. Make the analogy here and I do not want to come off as being racist but I like to use extremes to make points:

I have a friend who the only Black and Hispanic people she knew were gang bangers. She was afraid of any person not White, Asian or Native American. When I asked her why, she said "They (Blacks and Hispanics) are all are gang bangers." Well, I never had this experience and knew that it was wrong to judge the whole based on the few. Now, after my former neighbors moved and the new crew came in, they started illegally subletting (they rent their house, we own ours) to some kids who were also known to the police for drug dealing. One of their cohorts threatened my son and me with a gun when I politely asked him to leave us alone. This is a nice, quiet community and the police were at their house quite a bit. This particular kid happened to be Black - does this mean I must fear that entire race? No.

Now, transfer this line of thinking to dogs: when people see only the bad of a breed, they judge the whole breed based on it - and not the truth. The truth is in 18 years of dog training and showing in various sports and now teaching, the only nasty dogs of ANY breed or cross I have had experience with were from: pet stores; back yard breeders; irresponsible owners; people who use dogs as status symbols; people who did not take the time to properly match the dog with the house and thugs.
