Koch does not have any "current" artists who's gone gold or Platinum except in singles which were ringtones. DJ Khaled, DJ, Unk, Jim Jones, none of them have a gold record from Koch. It's not designed to so. They are PAID though Labels like Koch Records, Imperial Records(Fat Joe) are incubator labels with a specific marketing and budgets for artist who sell between 100-200,000 units. When Koch wants to really push a artist or before they walk, Koch has a arrangement with Sony. Koch works the records at radio cause their obviously good in that department, and Sony thru Columbia or Epic(Ray J, Yung Berg, Jim Jones) does the marketing. Keak did the numbers he did based on his budget. He did what he was supposed to do, it's up to Keak to keep the ball rolling. Koch has NEVER had a artist go gold, or ship gold because Koch is not designed to do that. koch is good for a start to get your name out there and then move up to the majors. keak is still paid at the end of the day regardless of what he sells this time around.

its a step up from the rinky dink duistributors in the bay area thats for sure. you can do what they do yourself. koch has some descent accounts but there not a platinum plus distributor. they do their job though. i seen some bold predictions for this album awhile back and know it was just released. i guess numbers will have to be checked in a few months to see who really knows what about this bay area music scene.

bought me a copy of that keak album, shit slap and up there with bun b as cd of the year so far for me. Everyone need to go cop that album. I know keak sold a fair mount in canada so far also.

i have a good friend of mines that is on jive and he is extremley talented singer he got hella features with huge artists but they dont have they shit correct they put him on the backburner and dont have any promotion!!!


Some Labels that is well known in the buisness are lacking alot of things including promotion!!!!! as well as artist development most labels just throw you in the limelight for the quick buck rather then wait a min build him or her up and make money for 2 or 3 albums

Your definitely right about that with the distributors here. The only difference between Koch and something like a Fontana is the marketing budget. One will give you a little something, the other will expect you have your own budget. You can't get on Fontana directly unless your record label has a history of good credit and money in the bank cause they ask for your tax returns. If keak keeps pushing his own shit, paying for another video himself, hiring his own radio promo, basically taking his own money and use Koch to his advantage.

its all about good music. period ... I'm sure there's southern artists who we dont even know about (yet) who manage to pull in way more than that, and their argument isn't nor should it be any different from the bay's independent rap scene.

With the combination of Bay Area artist not having a budget AND no unity, its likely they wont sell... a lot of units. It's the same old complaint we all know whats wrong with the bay. It's not the music. It's a number things thats hard to break out of unless u relocate to another place for the sake of your career. Even Beyonce knows who Keak Da Sneak is so he had to have had some sort of mainstream buzz at one point.

Do a poll around the U.S and ask rap fans what single/ album Keak da Sneak has out right now and I bet very few people will even know who or what you are talking about....And even if they did I'm sure he only pressed up about 15,000 copies anyway so big number are just not possible.....
