^^^ I like that cover

Kanye's music may be over some of y'alls heads. Because he's not weak by any means. Cats who like the "street shit" generally don't feel him because they can't always wrap their head around what he's talking about. His shit aint as simple as money, hoes, clothes and guns.

^^^^hahaha....so bascially you are saying if i'm not feeling kanye i must be a idiot, like i comprehend his complex lyrics??? thats just a weak excuse,i dont like him cause he is wack...your assumptions about our intelligence arent needed. listen to some pep love, aesop rock, immortal technique or sage francis than tell me about what i can wrap my head around. kanye west is pre-school compared to them.

Don't misquote me man ...

I made a general statement that pertains to some of the fans of the "street shit" that frequent this site. What I didn't say is that "SiccFucc is an idiot cause he aint feeling Kanye"

That's great you're the 'resident backpacker' and what not. You may not find Kanye's music complex considering who you listen to on a regular basis. That doesn't mean other people don't find him complex and therefore deem him wack because they don't understand where he's coming from. Actually it's more like they don't give him a chance.

Why is it that MOST of the backpackers that I speak to ( not you personally ) are so closed minded about hip hop that isn't your Aesop , Pep Love, Slug type hip hop...?

Why is it that they feel the need to TOTALLY curse everything that isn't 'conscious' hip hop....?

Me personally...I love Little Brother...The Listening is one of my favorite albums of all time...but at the same time...I can throw the Young Jeezy album in the car stereo and ride out just the same.

I haven't met any mainstream hip hop fans that MAKE IT A POINT to talk down on conscious hip hop...if anything...they'll just say they don't listen to them...

But why do backpackers feel the need to deprecate mainstream rap...?

Different music for different moods...when I'm feeling intelectual...I'll throw in the Kweli CD...when I'm getting ready to go to the club, feeling kinda hyphy...I'll throw in some Mac Dre and get S.T.U.P.I.D.

All it boils down to to me is : Does it sound good ?

I feel the same way. I can get down with conscious raps and street raps just the same.

Kanye aint complex at all mane, I swear people dont got no damn standards when it comes to rap no more. He just aint a good rapper. Now I'm sorry if thats too simple of a concept for your extra complex ass to grasp.

Yea its nice that he has a little different topics than the same old garbage that most people be on but that dont make him a good rapper. his flow is lazy and his voice is annoying. Plus I dont much care for his "im the greatest" attitude. He expects more credit, respect and recogntion than he deserves and then gets mad when he dont get it. Oh yeah, plus hes too damn femenine. Dont be surprised when his faggoty ass gets comfortable and comes out the closet.

^^^ I agree with you about Kanye the rapper..but you cant deny his production skills. And he can be as cocky as he wants to with that because he brought it with Late Registration...musically it blew away every hip hop album this year.

And he might even edge out Paul McCartney for the Grammy. Imagine that.

I dont know homie, late registration aint nothin special in no aspect to me. college dropout is much better and I'm not that crazy about that one either, but at least its listenable. And as far as late reg blowin every other rap album away musically, you need to listen to DJ Quik - Trauma.

Agreed.

Personally I think Late Registration was and still is 99% hype.

The album sucked.

And that song with Jamie Fox was fucking horrific.

To people that are expecting the same ol shit, when they hear an artist like Kanye or Common, they come off as complex to them because they're different - and they're dismissed as wack rappers cause they aint killin nobody or sellin dope. It's all relative. That's the point I was making. Maybe this topic is a little too complex for your simple ass to grasp ...

Smells like vintage haterade right there ... But that's just how I see it.
