so martinez won?
Does that answer your question? Got Em!!

Chavez is so used to fighting against other dudes who don't move around as much as Martinez did. That was a good game plan. Sucks Chavez wanted to do what his dad did 25 years ago on the same day. But if Chavez hadn't waited I do honestly think Chavez would have won by an early knockout. Rematch will be an easy one for Chavez to win. But wow what a difference in body size. Lol Chavez was like Godzilla and Martinez like all the people running. If Chavez hadn't knocked em down and just kept hitting the fight would have been stopped, but I guess that doesn't cross the minds of boxers with all that excitement. Now Martinez knows that Chavez is on his level if not higher.
Bwhahahhaahah dont make me laugh! Chavez is nowhere near the level of Martinez. He is a bigg fighter who likes fighting smaller guys to get an advantage but it didnt work last night. Martinez is arguably the best fighter in the world along with Mayweather & Ward. Chavez isnt anywhere near that discussion. get real. If they have a rematch it will be the same outcome but I think Martinez would ko him this time because Chavez would start earlier and get more with harder clear shots. Got Em!!

^^Chavez didn't wait. The problem was Martinez lateral movement and his speed. Also, chavez landed probably harder shots than he did in the 12th several times earlier in the fight that didn't phase martinez at all. The difference was Martinez look exhausted by the start of the 12th. He just threw 108 punches in round 11, plus all that movement took a lot of energy. So that knockdown chavez scored probably had a lot more to do with Martinez being very fatigued.

Which means if chavez "started earlier", he would have got beat up even more and possibly knocked out himself.

In short, there isn't any possible way chavez could have beat martinez last night, other than what he nearly pulled off in the 12th. That was his chance and props to him for coming close. But Martinez got up and popped chavez something fierce with a left that stopped chavez in his tracks. A lot of people overlooked that. Martinez after getting dropped, kept fighting back and rocked Chavez pretty good, which slowed Julio's output from that point till the sound of the bell.
Well said man. Got Em!!

Martinez literally broke Chavez face:

M @mar avillabox , @jcchavezjr1 , The medical tests have revealed Julio Chavez Jr. suffering "malar bone fracture (cheekbone) and orbit" , which is going to prevent the coming months to continue training and will likely need surgery in the coming days.

The malar bone is located at the level of the cheek and that makes it prominent cheekbone. Also part of the floor and lateral wall of the orbit, which is the cavity that holds and protects the eyeball. At fracture, can cause a flattening of the cheek, limited mouth opening, and if they commit the orbital walls can produce drop eyeball double vision and commitment of the muscles that move the eye. Sometimes these symptoms are masked by post-traumatic inflammation and only become apparent a few days later when the swelling down. These symptoms should be treated surgically to avoid leaving important functional and aesthetic sequelae.

Chavez Jr took a good asswhopping. But he did cut Martinez's eye and dropped him in the 12th. It was a burtal fight and Martinez put on a boxing lesson for 11.5 rounds. Both guys won't be fighting for a while.

Martinez whole style is cocky that's why he's easy to hit with his hands down by his waist. Chavez needed to punch more this was his first big fight and happenfully he learned from it. But Chavez took a mean asswhipping.

Maravilla got cocky and dropped his right hand that last round, taunting Chavez and got caught. Chavez didn't show anything aside from a great chin and the slowest hands in the sport.
Martinez always fights like that. He pretty much dropped his gloves the whole fight not just the 12th round. Like 206 said, it was a combination of fatigue and some good shots from Chavez Jr. Martinez had took the same shots earlier in the fight and walked right threw them. However in a big long fight and with how active Martinez was it caught up to him and he got dropped. Other than that it was a brilliant display by Martinez. Got Em!!

Dropping your hands allows you to conserve a ton of energy.
He does it for stamina. Fighters (especially MMA) will draw back and drop their hands late in rounds. It's about circulation as well. The last thing Martinez is doing is showing off.

Run a mile with hands by your chin as opposed to at your waist.
You'll feel your arms getting extremely heavy after a quarter mile.

Top Rank, who promote middleweight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., have confirmed to BoxingScene.com that the Mexican star tested positive for marijuana following Saturday's twelve round unanimous decision loss to Sergio Martinez. The fight took place at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

BoxingScene was provided with the following statement from Top Rank - "Top Rank is reviewing the situation. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will have the opportunity to explain about the situation to the Nevada State Athletic Commission."

Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer has confirmed to BoxingScene.com's David Greisman that Top Rank's statement accurately represents a conversation he had with the promoter on Tuesday afternoon.

This marks the second time that Chavez tested positive for a banned substance in Nevada. In 2009, he tested positive for Furosemide, a diuretic, after his win over Troy Rowland. The official result was changed to a no-decision. Chavez was fined $10,000 and suspended for seven months. He faces similar punishment with the latest incident.

Martinez (50-2-2, 28KOs) dominated Chavez (46-1-1, 32KOs) for nearly eleven rounds, before Chavez badly hurt Martinez and scored a knockdown in the twelfth. Martinez survived to win a lopsided decision with scores of 118-109, 117-110 and 118-109.
