Yeah Martinez could have just ran. He gave Chavez Jr. a boxing lesson, did anybody really see it any other way. I was right about Martinez not really hurting him though

Jr stuck in there. He got handled for 11 straight but he stuck in there and didn't quit so he gets props for that.

Great showing by Martinez. He stuck to his game plan and even though he started to get winded in the later rounds and got dropped, he got back up, didn't run and pulled it out.

Jr got his ass whooped.
That knockdown means nothing. If you become a human punching bag for 35 minutes, the last thing your opponent thinks you are going to do is throw a punch. He just caught him by surprise.

Plus the only reason people are talking about it is because it was in the 12th. If it would have happened in the 5th people would barely mention it and there would be no talks of a rematch.

Chavez looked like a mexican frankenstein in there.
Plain and simple.

that would have been some exponentially epic shit if chavito would of pulled that 12th round ko off

i still dont think its safe to assume that all chavez has to do is let his hands go sooner next time. the reason he didnt tonight was cause martinez was tagging him fierce everytime he would come in swinging. had chavez tried to exchange more shots from the start, or even earlier, he wouldnt of made it to the 12th.

either way pops and son are gonna get HELLA SPRACKED tonight!!!! its party time for mexicans!!!!!

Man just finally able to get online. My dude Martinez is a hogg! He beat that kid like he stole sumthin. I have never seen a scratch on Chavez Jr.'s face until tonight. He looked like he got jumped in an alley lol. He went for the knockout in the 12th and due to Martinez bein a "G" and not running he did catch Martinez but Martinez gets even more props for still coming forward and brawling the whole 12th round! We do not need a rematch! This was a mismatch at its finest and a very desperate late knockdown doesnt change that fact! I would like to Martinez & Canelo fight! That would be awesome. Got Em!!

Sergio Martinez received medical attention for a variety of injuries Saturday night shortly after his middleweight title victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., according to his adviser Sampson Lewkowicz.

The reigning champion incurred a broken left hand, eight stitches over his left eye, two staples in his head, and torn ligaments in his right knee that will likely require surgery.

Chavez is so used to fighting against other dudes who don't move around as much as Martinez did. That was a good game plan. Sucks Chavez wanted to do what his dad did 25 years ago on the same day. But if Chavez hadn't waited I do honestly think Chavez would have won by an early knockout. Rematch will be an easy one for Chavez to win. But wow what a difference in body size. Lol Chavez was like Godzilla and Martinez like all the people running. If Chavez hadn't knocked em down and just kept hitting the fight would have been stopped, but I guess that doesn't cross the minds of boxers with all that excitement. Now Martinez knows that Chavez is on his level if not higher.

^^Chavez didn't wait. The problem was Martinez lateral movement and his speed. Also, chavez landed probably harder shots than he did in the 12th several times earlier in the fight that didn't phase martinez at all. The difference was Martinez look exhausted by the start of the 12th. He just threw 108 punches in round 11, plus all that movement took a lot of energy. So that knockdown chavez scored probably had a lot more to do with Martinez being very fatigued.

Which means if chavez "started earlier", he would have got beat up even more and possibly knocked out himself.

In short, there isn't any possible way chavez could have beat martinez last night, other than what he nearly pulled off in the 12th. That was his chance and props to him for coming close. But Martinez got up and popped chavez something fierce with a left that stopped chavez in his tracks. A lot of people overlooked that. Martinez after getting dropped, kept fighting back and rocked Chavez pretty good, which slowed Julio's output from that point till the sound of the bell.
