hahah heres a comment from some white guy on LA TIMES....

Career criminal gets into a fight on BART. Resists arrest. Is still struggling even though he's down on the ground. Officer made a mistake, but responsibility rests primarily on Oscar Grant. If he hadn't been involved in a fight and had not resisted arrest, he'd still be alive today. In jail maybe but alive. Message should be clear-don't be a crook, and don't fight with the police. Stuff happens. Meanwhile Oakland PD and LAPD need to be ready for more rioting animals who will also fight with police and then claim brutality. Idiots.
to this i say FUCK YOU (the writer) but at the same time those rioting give little room to argue with pieces of shit like him..

FUCK, why do mob mentalities run supreme when there is a a cause to fight for?

i dont doubt that there was more to it then what was filmed.....but the fatal blow was...he reached for the wrong weapon...he was a rookie, personally i think cops should be given tazers and pistols with rubber bullets...not sure if anyone here has had the opportunity of being hit by some...but they arent nice and will ball you up or incapacitate you to a level where you are more than cooperative...cops have too much say in random peoples lives...seriously all it takes is one cop to flip out and just start buckin at random people because he has ammo in hand..i have met very few cops that are out to help people in general where as i have met far more cops out for the power trip aspect of it and those are the cops that scare me

i do believe the bart cop was in the wrong but it was also a mistake, yet grant was laready on the ground cuffed so there should have been no need to pull any weapon on him..or maybe he was trying to pull it on grant but reached for it for the out of control crowd and his finger slipped...hair triggers are a bitch...i dont think what was done was intentional but it was done and it must be punished accordingly and not on some bullshit because he has the law on his side...thats weak shit

I have said from day one, on that video to ME it looks genuinely like he shot him on accident. Its sad to see Oscar Grant gone. I feel for his family but I do not believe that cop shot him on purpose to kill him.

He never walked the yard. He was 23/1 for his 2 years. His life is ruined. Case closed.
I agree with dutch.

OAKLAND (KTLA) -- Hundreds of protesters marched from the Fruitvale BART station toward downtown Oakland this afternoon, the day before the court ordered release of former BART police Officer Johannes Mehserle, who shot and killed an unarmed train passenger on New Year's Day 2009.

Protesters spent an hour at the Fruitvale BART station, where they carried signs and chanted. The group also carried a coffin in a mock funeral procession and busted open a piñata in the shape of a police cruiser.

The group did not disrupt normal train service.

Wanda Johnson, the mother of 22-year-old Oscar Grant, who was killed by Mehserle, was among the group along with with Grant's 6-year-old daughter, Tatiana, who received a $1.5 million settlement from BART.

Mehserle was convicted in July 2010 and sentenced in November 2010 to two years in prison for involuntary manslaughter in the death of Grant.

When the former San Francisco Bay area police officer convicted of killing Grant in an Oakland train station scuffle is released from prison Monday, he will have served 365 days in jail, including time before his conviction.

With 366 days worth of good-conduct credits earned, Mehserle's total custody amounts to 731 days served, equaling the sentence imposed.

The jury found that Mehserle didn't mean to kill Grant, but that his behavior was still so negligent that it was criminal.

The case was prosecuted in Los Angeles due to public reaction in the Bay Area.

They got him already, i saw this on the news

11:42AM PST June 13 2011

Police hope the graphic image of Johannes Mehserle's skull will help them track down his killer.

Detectives said the nails, which measure up to 85mm long, were fired into his head by a high-powered nailgun.

His body was found early this morning, shortly after his release from prison. He had been bound with electrical wire and wrapped in a domestic rug.

Since then, the trail has gone cold and detectives released the x-ray as part of a fresh appeal for information.

Officers believe Johannes Mehserle, was shot and killed before being driven to the site where his body was later discovered

Detective Inspector Mark Newham told local media that post-mortem examination results had showed Mehserle was shot repeatedly in the head up to 30 times with a high-powered nailgun while face down and handcuffed.

"Similar types of nailguns can fire nails up to 85mm long," Mr Newham said.

Detectives said the nailgun used in the murder was a standard cordless, framing, gas-charged gun, widely available for sale and hire and the killer may never be caught.

Mehserle was believed to be homosexual by his fellow officers after a violent rape that occured during his prison stay that was previously not revealed to the media. He was reported missing by a male friend two hours after his release.

There are currently no suspects in this crime, Detectives ask that if you know anything about this case, please contact them as soon as possible.

The Oscar Grant family asked that if you know anything about this murder, please just shut the fuck up because justice has been served. They extend their thanks to the community for "not snitchin"

There will be no funeral services for Mehserle, his body will be dragged through the streets of Oakland tomorrow in celebration.
