Pavlik looked pretty good. I think he's ready for Taylor and would give him a run for his money. Solid ass chin, he took Pantera's shots and kept coming forward. Stuck to his gameplan to a 'T' and it worked. Never really gave Pantera a chance to get his feet set and unload.

The thing about Miranda is that he's a one trick pony. If he can't get set up and land that big punch, he doesn't really have a 'plan b' or anything. Regardless, he's still exciting as hell to watch.

That fight was entertaining tho !

Man I've seen Miranda fight better than that.. he looked sluggish from the gate. I will admit he has heart though. But I don't want to take anything away from Pavlik. He looks like he's serious... he took some good shots to the head and chin and was still firing his right hand and landing it flush. He'll be a good match for Taylor and he'll force Taylor to fight.

And Spinks must have thought he was Floyd Mayweather... That fight was boring, I fell asleep as well. I won't fault Taylor too much because he had to be careful and watch for Spinks' left hand. In this kind of fight you award the fight to the aggressor in Taylor because Spinks wasn't doing anything or landing any punches. When you compare this fight to the De La Hoya/Mayweather fight, yes Oscar was the aggressor but he was getting hit with flush power shots. This wasn't the case here... Taylor barely got hit. There is no way Spinks was even close to winning that fight in my opinion. Spinks sucks... I don't think I'll watch another fight of his.

^^Yeah I agree. I don't understand at all how anyone could have thought Spinks won the fight.

According to CompuBox, Spinks landed 16% of his punches. LOL

Taylor:
101 of 319 punches (32 percent)

Spinks:
85 of 542 (16 percent)

How the fuck can anyone expect to win a fight and only land a total of 85 punches?

Just for comparison:

Pavlik:
242 of 539 punches (45 percent)

Miranda:
111 of 504 (22 percent)

And that fight only went 7 rounds.

Spinx actually had a great game plan, just didn't really execute it very well. Jermain Taylor's stock is really declining IMO...he can't even put away these little guys. He should be able to walk through these punches.

His last few fights have been with much smaller guys, that really can't punch. And he can't even put these guys away.

Edison Miranda: "I Will Be Back, Better Than Ever"
Recommend this page Printable version
It was a disappointing Saturday night in Memphis for middleweight contender Edison ‘Pantera’ Miranda as he suffered his first real loss of his career to Kelly Pavlik. But Miranda vows to be back in the ring and better than ever in the future.

“I’m sorry to all my fans for my performance on Saturday night,” said the gracious Miranda. “I let you down, but know that I tried my best with what I had to win the fight. I thank you for all the support you have given me and I promise that I will return to the top and win a world championship for you.”

“I realized the importance of this fight for my career, my fans and most of all, I did not want to disappoint HBO who has been my supporter after the events in Germany. I was faced with adversities that I have never had to deal with in this fight, with my weight,” said Miranda. “All during training camp, no matter how hard I worked the weight did not come off like it had before. I did not eat or drink anything Thursday or Friday and still I had trouble making weight but I did not want to let the network down and my fans around the world. I went into the ring weak and ill, but I gave it my best effort!”

“To Kelly Pavlik, congratulations on your win; it was an honor to be in the ring with a warrior who thinks and fights like you do, and I hope we can fight again in the future. As for my immediate future, I’m going to take a little time off from the gym to relax, and after talking with my team, I’ll decide what the next step will be. Who knows, the next time you see me I may be chasing after a world super middleweight title.

“Know this though, I will be back and better than ever!”

Yep. Both fighters were an embarrassment, imo. Just look at the numbers:

Damn, Pantera really fucked himself by not eating or drinking two days before the fight...I understand he had to make weight, but he was so undernourished and weak that he had no chance.

Glad to see he took his loss gracefully though, as much shit as he talks. LOL
