No doubt. People that disagree probably don't listen to him, and are judging off of what they hear on the radio.

Jay makes it seem more effortless than any Emcee I've ever heard, he found the perfect balance IMO, making great records without sacrificing lyricism...

You cats are ignorant, and its always the people who haven't even really listened to the music, who are the most opinionated.

Jay is the best rapper alive. PERIOD
dont know about 'best rapper alive' but i agree hes def wit the best of them out there,i dont get how people cant recognize skill and even fucking like rap

I think Jay-Z is overrated as well, but I do agree that he's one of the greatest of all-time. You look at what he's done in his career, how many MCs has ever done what he's did? Especially in today's rap game. Im not a Jay-Z fan or nothing, but a lot of what I see going on in this thread is hate, not opinion.

okay...so what you're trying to say is, they're both garbage? i agree.
I don't try to say anything. I get straight to the point and keep it movin'. I never said either of those cats are garbage or whether or not I'm a fan of their work. If you've read my posts in this thread then it's obvious I have respect for Jay as an artist and as a businessman.

It's too bad more cats arn't man enough to acknowledge talent when it's deserving instead of whining and saying stupid shit.

Just out of curiosity. My personal opinion is that Jay is the best rapper alive ( And he's not even my favorite rapper )

But if he isn't...then who is ?

What I base my opinion off of is lyrical skill, content, flow, and ability to make great songs...

So who is it in your opinion? And why...

Spice 1 is better than Gay-Z.

Scarface is better than Gay-Z.

Nas is better than Gay-Z.

Royce Da 5'9" is better than Gay-Z.

Ice Cube is better than Gay-Z.

The list could go on and on.

I don't hate Jay-Z ...Don't even know the man. I like a lot of his songs. In fact there's not many that I dislike. You gotta give credit where credit is due. He has talent. No one is disputing that. I don't care if he had a Gazillion album sales. That still does not translate to be being the "Best Rapper alive". Does he have a right to say it? Of course! What rapper in his right mind would not consider his/herself the best. Talking smack is understandable. Actually believing it is a whole different bag of nuts. It mainly boils down to opinion. I bet if you ask some folks in Mississippi who the best rapper alive is , they'll probably say David Banner. Based soley on the humantarian/charity work he's been up to. Having a strong positive opinion about yourself is perfectly fine. It's when you start think the mass majority of the people feel the same way you do about yourself is where you can get into trouble. Staying humble is your best bet.

never could get in2 jay-z. used to hate on him by callin him GAY-z and commercial bullshit, but he is a good lyricist, jus could never get in2 him. and yes, i have LISTENED to him, i got some folx out here that like him, even let me borrow his shit. he's a good lyricist, but TO ME, he is hella boring, his voice, his delivery, he raps like he's constipated tryin to take a shit. top 5, naw, maybe top ten. shit, i put ice cube, tupac, ecay uno, mitchy slicc, brotha lynch hung, x-raided, and eminem before jay-z.

like i always say, some people consider the best rappers, one who can use metaphors real clever-like jay-z or cassidy, some say who has tha most passion in they raps to be tha greatest like pac, or some say whoever can come tha hardest is tha best like lynch. so like said above earlier: it's jus opinion. fold.

Most people who hate on Jay are people that are on pacs nuts so hard that they never sat back and gave jay a chance. Every jay album I've heard is pretty damn good and he has right to say hes the best. Hes not eactly my favorite rapper by a long shot but hes still tight

i think the most skilled mc is tech n9ne. no one can touch him but Jay Z is almost on top of the rap world thats about it. he aint the best just at the top with alot of power. wich i dont think he'll be at the top for that long same with 50 cent they both think they know what the ppl-streets want to hear and right now i think they are both sinking.
