Dude got skillz. But that's a big Statement. The reason I bring it up is that there are currently TWO(2) songs on the radio. 1. Bumpin My Music- By Ray Cash ft. Scarface and Jay-Z and 2. That new Beyonce Song feat. Jay-Z.
On both of those songs , he addresses himself as the best rapper alive. Reminds me of a broad that keeps saying how pretty she is. Eventually, those comments about herself makes her look ugly. What yall think? I think not. He got flow... but not like that.

I guess bc he records his whole album off the dome with out writting but shit Hell Rell and many others does that

I was pissed when I watched some MTV2 show and it said that Gay-Z was better than Tupac.
thats weird, i saw an mtv2 greatest mc's countdown that put pac at #1

jay-z's just bragging, many mc's in the history of hip-hop have called themselves the greatest. i personally dont get what the big deal is about him tho...he's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over-rated.

i think dude has a right to address himself as the best alive...like it or not he's been burning shit up for years...i used to think he was overrated...but the black album changed my mind....there are plenty of rappers who are more skilled, but i can't really think of any who are more consistant in making hits and staying relevent in hiphop...well, besides LL...his time has passed though.

dont u have to write your own shit to be considered a rapper?
yeah, perhaps he wrote his own shit back then, but now he's probably sick of writing on his own so he has a ghostwriter

Jay-Z has borrowed lines from others just like a million other rappers have. Most of them do it to pay homage (think of all the people who 'stole' or 'bit' a line from Biggie). Anyone trying to degrade that to pety lyric theft should be slapped.

A quick look at his track record proves his relevance in music and that people love him across the board. You gotta respect this dudes consistancy & accomplishments. Ain't too many cats in his league.

Domestic (U.S.) only:

Jay-Z: The Black Album - 3x million
Jay-Z: The Blueprint 2 - 3x million
Jay-Z: The Blueprint - 2x million
Jay-Z: Volume 3, Life And Times of S. Carter - 3x million
Jay-Z: Volume 2, Hard Knock Life - 5x million
Jay-Z: Volume 1, In My Lifetime - 1x million
Jay-Z: The Dynasty, Roc-La-Familia - 2x million
Jay-Z: Reasonable Doubt - 1x million
Jay-Z & Linkin Park: Collision Course - 1x million
Jay-Z & R. Kelly: Unfinished Business - 1x million
Jay-Z & R. Kelly: Best of Both Worlds - 1x million

As an artist, Jay can say he's the greatest, or one of them, all he wants.. He's earned it. And I think a lotta people hate him simply cuz so many others don't.
