Jason Schmidt is a great pitcher the best the giants have, since woody aint doing shit

but as for Jason Schmidt being cy young...i dont think so...although im loving how hes the starting pitcher for the all star game! i think russ ortiz is a better pitcher, he has what 12 wins i thnk?

Jason schmidt will take the giants far into the play offs tho.

IM GLAD I AINT THE ONLY ONE THAT RECOGNIZES ORTIZ IS BETTER THEN SCHMIDT, NITRO TRIED TO THROW STATS OF THEM 2 LAST SEASON WHEN I SAID ORTIZ IS THE BETTER PITCHER BUT I HAD MORE FAITH IN ORTIZ LAST YEAR THEN I DID SCHMIDT AND IT ALWAYS SEEMED TO BE TRUE LAST SEASON BUT WHATEVER THEY PLAY FOR DIFFERANT TEAMS NOW THATS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!

Exactly and u were wrong!! I never said u ate your words!! I just clowned your team, and u cause u thought Ko-Me was gonna do it, but we all know they now need Payton & Malone to get back to that level!! Haha!! GOT EM!!!
You eating your words is not something you have to agree to doing, or admit to doing. It is a term for when people say something and it backfires on them. That is what is happening here. I showed you all the shit you talked about Schmidt and now it's starting to come back at you weather you like it or not. It hasn't happened yet because the season isn't over, but it doesnt matter weather you admit to having eatin your words, it's not decided by you, it's something that just happens, sorry pal.

Russ Ortiz does have 12 wins, but you have to remember wins are not the primary focal point when deciding who gets the Cy Young award. Have you ever heard of "run support"? Wins are definatley a major catagory to consider, but much more plays into it then just how many wins you have. Wins are decided partially (I would say atleast half) by your offense, which doesn't say much about you because you are a defensive player. For example, look at Hideo Nomo, he has an ERA of 2.85, yet he has accumulated 8 losses. That is because he has a very poor offense to back him up, how can he ever win a game if his team doesnt score points for him? So should this automatically exclude him from winning the award.. because he has a shitty offense? Look at every other catagory, you will see why Schmidt is the front runner and the starter for the NL All-Star squad. This entire ordeal about Schmidt has went from a single person on a message board stating his opinion, to an starting All-Star appearance, and analyst's declaring him the mid-season Cy Young winner. Needless to say, theres something you guys must be over-looking.

Exactly what? I never said trading Ortiz was a good idea, I said I would rather have Schmidt then Ortiz and I feel the same. Ortiz is not as good as Schmidt on the mound, and thats all there is to it. If he was, then you would see his ass starting at the big game getting all the Cy-Young talk and not blowing games in the world series like last year. If they had Schmidt and Ortiz, they would be tearing teams in half.

I didn't "try" to throw statistics out there, I DID throw them out, and not you, nor did anyone else have a damn thing to say after that. The numbers I showed were more then enough to prove my point, and it became silent in that thread.

How did it seem to be true? Explain. It may have SEEMED that way to you, but it simply wasn't. Let me break it down for you real nice here. Last year, Ortiz finished 14-10, Schmidt 13-8. Schmidt had a lower ERA, more strikeouts, and less walks. In the post season, same applied. Ortiz 2-0, Schmidt 2-1. Schmidt had 29 strikeouts, 8 walks. Ortiz, 13 strikeouts, 13 walks. Here is your chance to reply to these statistics that im "trying" to throw at you guys, tell me in detail how Ortiz was a better pitcher last year, or this year. Let's try steering away from "well it seemed as though..", come with some hard facts and prove me wrong.

Try what again? I never said the Braves needed Schmidt to win. You said "Just think if they still had Schmidt and Ortiz.." and I replied saying they would be tearing teams in half.

KINGCZAR said:

No, he has a 3.51 ERA compared to Schmidt's 2.37. I will also let it be known that at the All-Star break, the Braves were the 5th best offensive team in the majors, compared to the Giants at 15th. Can you say run support? There goes your win column.

KINGCZAR said:

Willis hasn't been playing all year, thats why he didn't get the recognition. Thats what!!

Yeah, I keep goin on about it and you keep tremblin' knowing damn well it's comin' and everything I said is true. You talked all that shit and its comin' back at you, you will eat your words, sorry pal.

Dontrelle Willis today, 2 innings pitched, 6 earned runs, 1 strikeout, 3 walks. This isn't what necesarily makes a pitcher in his position bad, its what he does to regroup. It was inevitable that he would encounter a tough defeat like this, but let's see if he can come back and pitch another gem on his next start, thats the hard part.

Schmidt is 8-3, with 5 no decisions. All 5 of those were won by the Giants. So really hes 13-3.
your reasoning above is very faulty!!

what if they came from behind after he left the game in those 5 no-decision starts? then he would be 8-8 right???

he didnt really come into his own until last years playoffs...he was a decent pitcher last year but nothing like this year....
agreed, he is pitching awesome this year. but then again so is Estaban Loiza. and ya he has been awesome for the last year and a half but then again so has david wells (he is only a decent pitcher when in the yankee uniform). i think you all get the point.

i still think Mark Prior is gonna set the standard for NL pitchers for years to come...
so do I.

niether can fuck with Mulder or Zito though...
definately schmidt cant, maybe prior cant right now but in my opinion his (priors) ceiling is much higher than any of those two.

Having left all of your no-decisions winning the game IS an arguement for him, but it doesn't mean anything as far as his win column goes.

Mcleanhatch said:

Schmidt: [10-4] 143k 34bb 2.41era [19 games]
Barry Zito: [8-7] 87k 54bb 3.22era [21 games]
Mulder: [12-7] 89k 32bb 3.21era [20 games]

To say that Schmidt, over a 5 year span has been inferior to these two pitchers could possibly hold true. To say these two pitchers have had more success, might be true. To say that Schmidt 'definatley cant fuck' with these pitchers, would be like saying the sun doesn't rise. Your denying something that is currently happening RIGHT NOW. He IS fucking with them folks, its not even close... it's almost as if, so far this year, Zito and Mulder can't fuck with Schmidt...

Then why the fuck are there over 30 replies on this thread, obviously people want to talk about it. No one cares about your obsession with Kobe, and your every thread you posted when the team lost, but you did it anyway. live with the hate, just don't vent it on this board.
