I liked the dream sequence better than the hospital scenes... And I do think that was Artie's wife, Charmaigne, or whatever.. I think it's supposed to be what Tony's life would've been like if he woudl've never been in the mob.. I think he's going to come out of it, and realize how bad life would've sucked, or maybe how important his immediate family is..

But from the preivew of next week, I think that it is all about the power struggle within the family.

*Spoiler, I guess*

I read somewhere that 2 of the 4 first episodes are dream type episodes, so I'm guessing he comes out of it at the end of the fourth episode, or maybe somewhere in the middle.

*End semi-spoiler*

I bet this is just going to bring Tony, Carmela and the kids closer.. and maybe even set up Tony having to choose between his two families, and which is more important to him.. David Chase said before that Tony would ultimately have to choose one family over the other, and I think this is setting up in favor of his blood family...

EXACTLY....shit was a trip...Funny thing is, that's REALLY how James Gandolfini talks...He's from New Jersey but he thickens up the accent for the role of Tony

But remember like he told the guy that commited suicide, Once your in, u can't get out, even if he chose his blood family over the MOB he would have to die to keep them safe. I believe that Tony doesn't know who he is in his heart, he became this person by watching his dad and uncle jun, but who is Tony really. In the dream sequence when he is at the dinner table with the people he just meet waiting for the guy to come back with his wallet they all say that they are looking for themselves. towards the end of the sequence if tony would have called home he would have woken out of the coma I believe. But he got a pretty big hole in his stomach.

Why this episode sucked . . .

Their dream sequences almost always suck; this was one of the worst.

It was all about tony's family not the mob family. Episodes should be about the mob family with the regular family supporting cast, not main characters.

AJ is a bitch
Carmela used to be weak, and then was super bitch, now trying to repent for being a bitch and going back to being weak. BORING!
Meadow whines, weeps, bitches, weeps and whines. nothing new, but that's why she's always been so god damn annoying.

But we knew all that already and didn't need this whole episode devoted to that fact.

Carmela put some bad genes into that family.

Look at the members of tony's family that are actually enjoying to watch or at the least make for good episodes when they interact with tony.

His mom
Junior
His Sister

But they're all also connected to the mob family in some way shape or form.

If this series was like this episode i wouldn't still be watching.

I don't know how much more of this crappy coma/dream sequence shit combined with sappy re-hashes of the family i can take. They had better pick up the drama with the FBI/Terrorism, mob infighting; etc in the next few episodes until tony comes out of it.

predictions . . .

Chris will tip the FBI about those arab guys and they'll use that to try and get him to give them more info about the family.

Silvio is gunna make a big move to try and run the family.

Chris will go against that as long as tony's alive. Paulie might go along those lines, but if tony dies or looks like he'll die could end up rolling with silvio in this one.

Vito is gunna try and make a move, but he's going to have new york behind him.

Tony will make it. Silvio will die/go to jail.

Vito will get killed by tony or at least someone in his faction (chris or paulie). And it'll contribute to more problems with new york, cuz they made a move against tony, and cuz he killed another one of phil's family members. It'll probably be more drawn out by tony being incapacitated in some form so people's loyalties go else where cuz he seems weakened and frail.

Jr will die of some medical condition after being put in a home/loony bin

i think silvio is more loyal to toney than paulie , when they showed the preview after they show lil paulie asking about the money if paulie is still mad about it, i think it goes back to when toney didnt give paulie the amount he wanted from the tip he gave ralphie in season 3

I think Paulie will get wacked, ever since he was in jail he just went suspect. Also I don't think Tony will leave the mob. My view of his dream was towards the end it was kind of pointing out how he wouldn't deal well with the normal life. Seeing as how he couldn't push people around and get what he wanted so easy. I dunno, its just speculation right now.

Man I guess I am alone on this. I loved that episode. I have watched it 3 times already. You pick up more each time with the dream shit. Edie Falco will get an emmy for her performance in that episode, unless she tops it again. When Tom Petty's American Girl was playing she more than likely did that scene in 1 take which lasted almost the entire song, and dug up all of the emotions. She was amazing. It was one of Robert Iler's better performances also. He has come along way in acting. I dont like were they are going with Uncle June, when he has it together he is enjoyable to watch, and it looks like he wont be around much longer.

I didnt like this episode not enough action for me.I dont like all the dream shit.If they had a dream scene every once in a while that would be cool but they be having whole episodes of dreams n shit. WACK!!!!

but see this is exactly why it's the best show on TV and has LASTED as long as it has....It's not just a shoot em up bang bang fake ass show....Go watch 24 if u just wanna see shit blow up lol...The show explores the family life and other aspects that NO OTHER film or tv show ever has about the mob...It has a reality to it. But there are cats that aren't happy unless 3 people get capped per episode lol

Couldn’t disagree more

there have been numerous episodes of the sopranos that don’t involve killing anyone that make this one look like trash

it’s about interesting characters doing interesting things.

this episode took its interesting characters and had them do nothing.

who wants to watch tony try and check in and out of hotels and try and attend salesmen conferences?

And then took it’s most uninteresting, boring, and/or whinny bitches and had them also do nothing other than be boring, whine, or act like bitches.

Meadow whining, throwing a hissy fit, worrying about her dad’s business, gee that’s not played out.

Carmela tossing and turning about her love/lack of love for tony, gee that’s not played out.

AJ being a bitch, gee that’s not played out.

You can have episodes all about the interesting characters interacting and not killing anyone. That episode where Chris & Paulie are stuck out in the woods in winter was entertaining because of their interaction, not cuz they chased a Russian through the woods, that was just the icing on an already good episode.

Granted this has to be taken as a small step in the big picture that is this season, but when you look at it as just a single episode, which is all we can do right now, it’s crappy.

Oh well I still liked it....But maybe just because it's been 2 years since it's last been on and I'm just happy to see ANYTHING

That's why i'm watching it. But after thinking the first episode was kinda weak, it looks like one of the best after seeing this latest one. I don't remember ever yawning and contemplating changing the chanel on a sopranos episode before this one, but i couldn't bring myself to do it because i figured something surely had to happen, but nothing ever did. Plus it’s a new sopranos episode I could never do that, it’s like crack, doesn’t matter how strong your urge to not indulge is, the urge to do it is stronger.

not that i know what it's like to be a crack head.
