^^^WOW, ok, that makes total sense...wow...so, it only makes a sound if theres something to pick it up, otherwise, nothing will pick it up and hear it. why would there be a sound if nothings there to hear it.

like u said, logically, it should, but only if someone can hear it.

this shit is confusing.

u can look at a tree that has already fallen and assume that it did make sound as it fell...same concept

Listen, you guys sound like the idiot on the skittles commercial who fell off the rainbow because he started asking dumb shit.

Do blind people see colors? No! Yet colors exist correct? Correct. Sound does not "only occur if there is someone or something there to be a medium to the vibrations or soundwaves."

Sound is produced by air vibrating a particular number of times per second. The number of times a sound vibrates per second is called a frequency. Ears are NOT needed to create sound. They are vital to hearing it but not needed to make it.

blind people see colors, jus not like around them, but in there blackness state, they see arays of colors, kinda like when you close your eyes and rub them real hard, you see some trippy shit.
and if this tree fell in a forrest, and no "human" was around it would still impact everything around it.Trees are living things, the vibrations created by the falling tree would impact the trees that are around.
I think the question was started cause of the whole "sound"idea,if no one is around to percieve it i could see how some people say its not sound, since sounds are manipulated in our ears to make us hear something.but science wise, sound is vibration, vibration is sound,so with common law,if you wave your hand around fast, your making sound, maybe "you"cant hear it,but you -are- creating sound.

Plus theres so many people that belive in whacky religions i can see how some people would say, well if no one is around, then nothing exist.pure ignorance, this is stoopid
FUCK THE TREE

ALRIGHT FUCK WHAT YOU HEARD I or didnt hear for that matter let me break down what the requirements for sound are as per the I dunno some perfesional type on the matter like...hmmm
AN AUDIOLOGIST or I dunno maybe a whole school full school of them
A source of Vibration IE a tree hitting the ground
a source of energy IE gravity finnally winning and pulling the tree down
a MEDIUM ie AIR and whatevers in it could be water whatever just some sort of matter no vacuume would not do.
A RECIEVER...IE a person a telephone a device that could take in said sound.
DONE AND DONE

sound is simply heard through the vibrations in the air, sound transfers through a medium, on earth the medium is air which vibrations travel through so it does create a sound, we dont have to be there to hear it. Now if this tree was in outerspace where there is no medium to travel through then the sound cannot be heard.

Is there such thing as reality? Or just one's perception & unquestioning belief in such?

Is there such thing as a universal truth?

Yes.

We have two choices both leading to the same answer.

Choice A
There is something that is a universal truth
(IE There is mass in the universe, fire needs oxygen, 0K is absolute zero.)

Choice B
There is nothing that is a universal truth
(Therefore the fact that their is no universal truth is in itself a universal truth.)

One of these two choices must be chosen and both lead to the same conclusion. That there is a universal truth.
