They lost 90% of the money they used on advertising from AP. His music sold that album. Not the ads on tv.
I was not referring to ads on TV. Most smaller businesses, or in this case an Independent Record Label, never make money on mass advertising. That's why when one of these smaller ventures plays a "big market, big money" gamble like advertising, they usually lose money.
I'm sure the FTI campaign (which took the place of a second single & video at the time) cost a lot. What was important was that it got his name out there to the masses & opened up his music to more folks.
But I still say pushing FOUR singles at radio stations ACROSS the US helped the most. I am trying to look at this thing like a "casual rap fan." If I am just a "casual rap fan," and I have Absolute Power, but I don't hear a catchy single for say... Everready, then I might never buy it because I don't know much, if anything, about it. :eyecross:
My main point was to try to relay to Strange that we all kinda want to know what's up with a single and/or video. It used to be that this was the best advertisement you could get, and I still believe that even in today's market, it is extremely important! Especially for someone who would like to sell more than 250,000 albums (single release) at some point.....
