yeah, i guess lincoln park is damn near in the middle of everything..so in your case i guess you might be right
but even then, walk through any hood on a regular day and its usually on some quiet shit..bird chirping sun shining...aint many people outside..

I'm crackin up you took it there but yeah, dago hasn't had foreal foreal projects(we used to) in YEARS...and the funny thing is most of em weren't even in southeast.
you right about that toxic waste part because my dad had some partners back in the day(we talkin the early 60's) that stayed in east dago way over on the back end of 38th st right by the freeway. He said the alot of people on that block ended up with cancer(and dying), cause they were living under toxic waste for YEARS and didn't know it...of course they rented that property to black folks in a part of town at that time where if you were black you weren't supposed to be over there.
the only thing I might argue against was bangers livin in two story houses. you can find that in alot of places, even in LA. and yeah some dudes are bangin from nice homes, but its not like everybody in southeast is livin like that, cause a nigga who grew up in say the coast for example is probably gonna feel a lil differently...but I do understand where you comin from tho.

you learn early out here to stick up for yourself. theres not a person in south east that hasnt fought and if you didnt, you werent allowed to play outside.
we made up gangs specifically to jump kids back when i lived in mariners villiage in the 80s on woodman. niggas was what, 12 years old then. yall know about the recreation center up the hill..basketball court, football team and all.
you either became addicted to tweek, in jail, dead, your doing the same exact thing in the same house with the same number, or you moved out of the area or maybe even SD and did something with yourself.
i didnt even know i was ghetto until i moved to san francisco for art school. i just thought taking weaker peoples shit is how life is supposed to be.
we look at people when they walk by differently, we dress different. we stand out like the wild group of kids you want to kick out the store.
if youre a south east native you have vivid flashbacks of waiting at the bus stop and watching every car and every person who walked on the same side of the street from 30 feet away til' the time he got up to you, and all yall did was nod at eachother...

You say "manzana up the street from the brook" like that's the turf. For all those not familiar with the eastside, Manzana is where we went to have fun because they had a swimming pool and basketball court there... and it was quiet and safe. Keep it real Gas, living a few minutes away from the hood is not the same as actually living in the hood.

I've lived in several different cities and visited a lot more. No matter how bad the area (south central, southside chicago, westend atlanta, brooklyn...) you can pretty much walk safely down the street, during the day, with nothing happening. I havent seen a city yet that has constant trouble happening everyday, all day long. And you throwing out demographical percentages doesnt mean anything. That crime rate and 8% black stuff, is San Diego as a whole. Recalculate those figures for just the southeast area then get back at us.
