Does anyone believe that when you die, you just cease to exist? For instance, No Hell, Heaven, Purgatory, ability to haunt, or to roam the earth as a ghost. Just plain old becoming worm and fly food. I have been thinking about death alot lately and if this is true, people are just throwing away what little time they have to experience life. Just a thought but what's yall's take on this?

I think its better to believe in something such as heaven and hell then to believe Imma just die and that's it because if I didn't believe... why the fuck would I be here livin' the shitty life? I'd just off myself if I knew there was nothin' afterwards to look forward to. Makes living the life easier... for me anyway... I guess knowing I'll be rewarded with heaven when I do die makes it worthwhile or somethin' like that.... shit, I dunno, its too hard to explain. Nevermind.

I believe after we die our consciousness continues on inside a systematic cycle of energies...

scientific evidence is always limited by the device's in which we experiment.

listen to srd, he admits its "better" to believe because it makes his life easier. and at the cost of what? billions murdered under the banner of religion? instead of trying to make life better for his fellow man, he relies on going to a better place after death, life is nothing compared to an eternity of paradise. whats funny is that he says he knows that he will go to heaven. religious idiots tend to have a closer relationship with an unsubstantiated god than with their fellow man. its a copout. its like a losing a game and covering your ears and saying "nope i won, lalalalala i cant hear you, i am the winner"

Jesus preached peace and love. How is that selfish? lol at you and your assumptions of people. There's good and bad people in every religion.

"Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.." - Jesus
I'm not trying to get in a lil back and forth thing here, I respect your opinion, but the full quote is below since you took just part of the passage.34-36

Matthew 10 37-39
37"Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

That quote further displays selfishness in Christianity!! What an asshole this Jesus guy was (if he did exist).
If he did exist and die for EVERYONE's sins, I don't think it's very selfish. The truth isn't known until death. I struggle with faith, but I know treating others like you would like to be treated has made me a better person then the piece of shit I used to be.

The quote you posted is about as selfish as it can get. I'm not going to say your faith hasn't helped you in your life, because I'm sure it probably has, my point was two things - one Jesus did not always preach peace and two selfishness is evident all throughout Christianity, the bible and even Jesus himself.

We can agree to disagree. It's just funny that people on either side of this argument can say they know the truth, because no one on earth does.

LOL @ GTS my brother read my sig. God blinds these mens with their own delusions and understanding, carnal wisdom, understanding and prudence has made such a simple concept go over their heads. LOL, These men are not heirs of the Kingdom of God neither are they called to the supper nor the marriage to come. Pray for them GTS, if you are a Christian, assuming you are.

as for the question, I believe in an afterlife. Fully Flesh and Fully Spirit.

i believe the cycle of energy, but i think consciousness will be non-exsistent
it doesnt make sense that it would because our perception of consciousness requires our functioning brain

my parents try to be super christian lately, and they definitely contribute to atheism, especially when they talk about evolution
