Homosexuality: Mental Illness or God's creation?

To anyone who believes in God, the one depicted in the Holy Bible: Do you think homosexuality is natural, or do you believe people choose to be gay?

Explain.

I want to hear answers from everyone; atheist, agnostic, or any follower of another religion. But specifically those that follow the Bible.

I think this is a very important and valid question.

It is written in the Bible that homosexuality is abomination, but if it is natural for some humans to be gay, and they have not a choice, then they would have to be of God's "devine" creation. And if this is so, how can it be abomination?

If it is natural, then this means a great deal about the context of the Bible! Perhaps it is a hint that [part of] the Bible was written in the interests of man and not always in the interest of God.

The only other option is that humans choose to be gay, but how can anyone argue that? There are people in this world that do not want to be homosexual.

i dont think homosexuals 'choose' to be gay, that what the bible/koran thumpers will want you to believe.
Its not natural, becuase the majority of humans dont have homosexual thoughts.

What i do beleive is that during the birth process, the fetus gets damaged, and the human doesnt turn out to be natural. An example could be found in a study, from all the briths that took place during WWII, most of the humans born turned out be gay. You see during the birth process the fetus needs to get a balance of hormones, if there are high stress levels that affect that balance, then chances are that fetus when she or he grows up will turn out to be gay.

The whole "we're animals" argument is fucking stupid. I'm not saying that homos deserve to die or anything like that. In western society they function and operate just like a straight person does, and have an equal purpose.

Anyway, yeah homosexuality is a mental illness. It's contrary to evolution and is counter-productive to mankind. The homosexual lifestyle is extremely dangerous, you can't argue with facts. 75% treated with STD's are gay or bisexual. Not to mention the intangibles of the importance of traditional societal roles in the family structure.

Do homosexuals contribute nothing to society and deserve to be burned alive? Of course not. Should the lifestyle be discouraged. Absolutely.

I guess no one paid attention last time I put a link up on a new study regarding homosexuality.
Some cats found that the gland that produces testosterone in gay sheep was undersized. Which lead them to believe that their homosexual nature might have something to do with low testosterone levels. So that was the next step of the study...

Unfortunately, this type of study will never be performed on humans.
But it might help understand human homosexuality.

I'll search for info on this later on.
But to me this makes a lot of sense, most gay people will swear that they were born that way.
Not to say that there isn't some out there who switch up, women for instance.
I know gay folks who hate people who jump on the bandwaggen becuase it's a fad now days....

As for religious insite on this? It all makes sense if it's a medical condition.
This would help those religious people who despise gays.
But for those who "choose" to be gay (yes I believe that is possible, just go to Brazil where casual sex is running out of control), then God has already convered their fate.....

No, you can think of it as we are all wild, or we are all rational. Humans are not exactly some super-superior beings that gracefully walk this planet and look down on all other things. We are mammals 1st, homos 2nd, and homosapiens thirdly.

Our "domestic" traits as a species have only been acquired in the last few thousand years, out of millions of years of existance.

Now anyways, back to the topic, many civilizations have widely accepted homosexuality, infact it was a very common practice in Rome during the roman empire. I think it all has to do with what we were raised as being right and wrong, heres my case....
...There was an isolated pacific islander tribe found which accepted and ritually practiced a very strange thing. Like most tribes, there was a ceremonial coming of manhood type of ritual. This ritual was that around age 14, a boy's father would take the boy up to a mountaintop, and would actually have anal sex with the 14 year old son. Everyone in the tribe practiced this ritual, and they all accepted it as being the right thing to do. Being isolated from the rest of the world, they did not see anything wrong in it, nothing, it was as common as baptism is among christians.
Now heres the other side to my case, most people who were brought up as devout christians view homosexuality(among other things) as something of the devil himself.

So the question is not, what do you think is right or wrong? its actually, how were you raised?

Just because a culture deems something as o.k doesn't mean that it is...if thats the case then slavery is just fine- because it was excepted at one point of time by the western world...Yes we are products of our society and we are quick to fall for propaganda...but we know to be blunt that "some shit just ain't right"...We had this same discussion in class and to my surprise of the 6 gay people in the class 4 said THEY made the CHOICE to date the same sex- they said they followed what they felt... The ability to reason is what seperates us from the WILD ANIMALS...we don't just follow our impulses we think...and the ones who don't think before they think in most societies are deemed "crazy" or something of the sort...I look at it like this sex is not merly for pleasure (that is just the perk of it) sex is for the reproduction of life. Gay people go through straight up misery 99.9% of the time when they come out. Why the fuck would anyone pick that?

Would you want to:

1. Impress all your friends and family with your mate choice (when viewed in comparison to being gay), be able to easily find and make friends wherever you go, have the option of naturally having kids, and have the support of 99.9% of the institutions in our society

or

2. Face alienation from your family and friends and criticism of your partner, have a tought time finding and keeping friends unless you find a local gay subculture, have to adopt (and even then be hugely criticized), not be supported as a married couple legally and financially, and face hatred, paranoia, aggression and fear everywhere you go.

You think they choose option 2? You think it's just a sick, immoral choice of a sick, immoral mind? Who the fuck would want that?
