i guess i'll speak on this since my name was brought up..
when i first started rappin.. there was no myspace. no interent outlet to get people to hear ur music. i had to pay good money to hit the studio to record. wasnt no cd burners and 100 cdrs for ten bucks.. i would walk out the studio with an adat tape of each song recorded.. i had to drive to san jo to buy em cuz i couldnt get em around here. each tape was like 7 or 8 bucks if i remember right. then i had to hit every concert, function, car show. promotin myself. gettin shoulders turned on me and treated like a nobody. but i kept at it. everybody thinks cuz woodie put me on NE4 that it was all downhill from there.. hell nah. when i put my first cd out i couldnt get no stores to take my cd without me practically beggin them to take a copy or two.. some stores i just gave them 5 copies free to sell.. just to get my cd in a store.. nobody knew who i was. but now after all these years of doin what i do.. hittin the streets promotin and hittin shows promotin and grindin like a muthafucka.. i got my name in this rap game and i got respect behind my name. now i got the same rappers who turned their backs to me in the beginning beggin me to put them on my albums. i got the same stores that wouldnt take 3 copies of my cds now callin askin for 200 cds. now im doin shows all over.. hoppin on planes and touchin down to do shows out of state. gettin recognized everywhere i go signin autographs in places i aint ever been before.. i put my work in to get recognized..
ive dedicated everything to this shit. i eat, sleep and breathe this shit. as much time and dedication i give to the cause and the streets is what i give to this rap shit. so now im suppose to give you a free verse cuz ur a homeboy right? let me put it in perspective real quick... i get hit up by an average of 5 to 8 individuals a week about verses. another 2 to 4 a week askin to give them complete songs for compilations they're puttin together.. thats just the number of those who ask for my services for free. so if i was to just record for free since they're homeboys.. in a months time ima be recordin maybe up to 20 to 25 verses and up to 8 complete tracks.. all for free. and somehow find time to do my own music and my labels music...nah homiez that aint how this shit is gonna go down! you can ask around.. i help out who i can. i could be an asshole and say fuck doin collabs. seriously i got enough of my own to do and my label and close homies in the rap game to keep me busy as hell.. but i aint like that.. all i ask is anywhere between $100 to $200 for a verse dependin on if and how far i gotta travel to record. i dont own a studio. so when you send me a bill and a beat. i gotta pay for the studio time. i gotta sit down and write a verse. if i drive to you i gotta fill the tank up and mobb out and sit down and write a verse. all that takes time and money. and now you got big oso on ur album and guess what. ur gonna sell cds to my fan base. people will buy ur album even if they never heard of you because they are fans of those you got featured on ur album. ur gonna get stores pickin up 20 to 30 copies now instead of a couple all because of the features you got on it. so to pay a bill or a lil more to have me featured on ur album to make u way more money.. thats homeboy luv right there i dont give a fuck what nobody says. thats the way the game goes. its a bizzness. u asked me to get on ur album. i didnt ask to get on ur album. ask anybody that i have ever worked with and they'll tell you im a real coo individual. aint nothin bout me shady in my wayz. shit i even do way more to help homiez out then i should real talk. but i can only do so much. this is my bizzness, my life.. this aint no soup kitchen. aint no free hand outs. ive been in this game too long and dealt with enought bullshit to make me wanna say fuck it all and give up but i dont. cuz i feel too much for this right here. i aint a myspace rapper. im really in the rap game doin thangs and im really in these streets doin thangs.. ive earned everything ive got and accomplished by puttin in work! hopefully all of you startin out in this rap game will make it big.. bigger then i ever could.. make it to mainstream. im hopin for the day one of us does that.. but if one of us does make it.. dont hate cuz they made it and they're not bringin you along cuz ur a homeboy. congradulate and get inspired to do it urself. cuz trust me when i say this.. throughout all this and in the end thats all your gonna have is urself. thats real talk.
