What do you know about pastafarianism? Do you know its history, its deep philosophical implications, etc.?

Something you just refuse to understand is that you can study religion as much as you want, nobody gives a fuck about it because you are studying something purely fictional and useless. A 5 year old might know everything about fairy tales - she can all of them by heart, yet she can hardly provide any useful insight into the natural world

I am not aware of a single example of useful knowledge derived from religion

The argument "You can't reject something fictional if you haven't studied it" doesn't work. All I need to know about it is what is sufficient to know it is fictional, the rest is a waste of time for everybody
Ohhhh....i like the argument here and I agree with you whole heartedly.

You can teach the THEORY of religion, but not religion itself.

Search the forum, and you'll see I spoke about it. We had a debate that went on for several pages and we talked about freedom of religion etc.

Actually, people give a fuck about it which is why this thread was made, why the polls and research were conducted, and why people such as yourself feel at home in circle jerk threads where every tom, dick and harry has something bad to say about religion.

A 5 year old might know everything about fairy tales - she can all of them by heart, yet she can hardly provide any useful insight into the natural world
And when one takes religion, studies it, and understands how it has shaped our world (politically, emotionally, morally, financially, etc) they will be able to provide useful insight of the natural world.

The argument "You can't reject something fictional if you haven't studied it" doesn't work.
Thats not my position, Albert. Please, R-E-A-D my response to Mothra S-L-O-W-L-Y.

All I need to know about it is what is sufficient to know it is fictional, the rest is a waste of time for everybody
Matter of opinion and see above.

^^^and as time goes on its going to get harder and harder for folks to believe in a God....especially one that is supposed to "come back"...
For over 2000 years the "jews" (those who adhere to judaism) have been waiting for the messiah. For a little under 2000 years "christians" have been waiting for the return.

It gets harder and harder, but more people claim to believe in it. But I understand what you're saying.
