They're not gonna go into the prequels or put the show on a hiatus. Bran and Rickon would be in their mid 30s by the time GRRM finished.

I've seen one scene from the upcoming season and it catches up with the end of Book 5. Next season should be all new content that even the book readers don't know.

This is where my decision not to read past the show is paying off since now it looks like the show is going to catch up and pass the books. I'd probably be pissed at certain things if I read all the books. Glad I restrained myself (which was hard as fuck, read all his other shit instead).
