I give jmacc props for being able to smoke a quarter ounce a day and still go work on a air duct or a toilet when he gets called in.
I know how stressful it can be knowing they may call you in at any time. A few years ago i was on call for this job for about 18 months. After the 18th month i talked to my boss and asked why i was never called in, and he said it was because i was never hired. But i still thought i was on call and its stressful.

I'm sure you and your family are proud of your accomplishments. Do the doctors and nurses pat you on the back and congratulate you for being a success in life, like they are? Does the cafeteria hook you up with an extra fruit cup and ladle of gluten free tuna casserole because they know you need the extra fuel for your strenuous tasks? Does the board of directors give you an annual bonus for doing such an amazing job? Do you get awards? Or do you drag your groggy carcass out of your twin sized bed at 1am when that emergency pager goes off, drive to work filled with loathing and frustration, head to your dusty boiler room desk while avoiding eye contact with everyone, pass by the security guard who doesn't have a care in the world then make a mental note to attack him online later, then sit and stew over barely legible work orders written by people that are more intelligent and successful than you will ever be, and think to yourself, "maybe next generation." "Maybe if I can find a decent 5/10 woman with low standards she'll whelp my brood and maybe my hard work can give them the future I've dreamed about my whole life. Maybe they'll be smarter, more successful, if I continue to work as hard as I can." Maybe they'll notice, unlike everyone around you. And maybe at the christmas dinner table someday they'll give you the look of admiration and respect you've so desperately craved from your hard working parents but never received.

This is one of the worst hospitals I have ever visited. A huge, echoing place with long corridors extending in all directions, no one at the reception desk, a woman I consulted at one desk didn't know anything about the hospital, "ask her," "ask her," etc. Scarcely a nurse's station in sight, took me 15 minutes to find a drinking fountain. My daughter came in from the emergency room with flu symptoms; masses were discovered in her abdomen. She was put in a bed and then basically ignored. A different doctor each day. Promised an MRI, waited 2 days, then checked herself out in disgust. Asked for a sandwich, asked for water, got neither. The woman who came to do her IV left her with a bloody arm, tried to put it in her hand, poked and prodded, poked again and again -- it was obvious she had no idea what she was doing. DO NOT go to this hospital if you can possibly help it. Go to Northwest, where they will take care of you. My daughter was advised by her own doctor never to go there again.
