I went to cc on and off from 18-27. Finally got those 60 units and got the fuck out, and transferred to University of Phoenix to pursue a Bachelor's in Business Management (best choice I ever made). Each class is 5 weeks long. It's a heavy ass workload, but it keeps me on my fuckin' toes (If there's a challenge, I do well)....went from a 3.2 in CC to a 3.75 in my program. It really depends on what you want to do, and how quickly you want to do it.

I was about to go to San Jose State, but with budget cuts and all that shit, I wouldn't have been able to get in for a year.

What do you want to do?

D-Rose, if it was anyone else on here that was a nurse I'd clown the fuck outta them but since you're cool I won't lol
One of my long time friends became an RN and STARTED @ $90K a year straight out of college...and not with a Bachelor's, either...just one of those 2 year nursing degrees.

Nurses these days do almost as much as MD's do. I was about to go into the program but the waiting list was like a year and a half.

I know nurses make good money, but dudes that are nurses always get clowned like that guy in Meet the Fokers. I guess it's more common now. I was just joking around anyway

You said you were 20 right....By the time you turn 23 - 24 you will be making some serious bread.......Even if the waiting list is long, by the time you finish your first year you can become a nursing asistant making 19 - 24$ an hour, maybe even more......Dont think about it do it......My neighbor is an engineer who lost his job and is trying to become nurse......They have the ability to work only 3 days a week and still make crazy money...

My uncle is a nurse and you can work 3 days a week and make good money but he works like 3 days a week 12+ hour shifts or something like that and he works the night shift a lot. It isn't for me but you can make good money doing it.

LOL its all good.

Go to school and become a nurse, my wife makes over 100k doing office shit....You can be a case worker or work in Dialysis....There are a bunch of different things...Im working on a BA from the university of phoenix and im in my last year.....I did 2 years at heald and got my AA back in 2002..........
Joey, what exactly does your wife do? I'm guessing she has her bachelor's right? I'm actually back in school getting my bachelor's too. I'm trying to do some office stuff like that to, lol. Working on the floor is cool but its really stressful.

RN aint a easy job nor is it for the faint of heart......
Yea its a hard job. If you work on the floor, or somewhere fast paced like the ER, there is never an easy day. The reward comes when you help save someone though. If it wasn't for the sense that you really helped save someone and let them reunite with their family, I would've quit a long time ago, lol.

damn good fucking thread, I been looking into getting into school myself been looking into the Art Institute to do multimedia type of shit. I also checked the University of Pheonix sports management program for the AA degree. What also interests me is the medical billing and coding shit where you can work from home and start your own business and build your client base.

Has anybody in sicc done the online school thing?

I'm stuck on what I want to do but Im leaning more and more everyday towards the medical billing and coding shit because I have the ultimate independence to work from home and start my business easy because of the demand of it.

the best reason to go to a CC first is because you save money

you can take most of your GE classes at the CC and CC's are A LOT cheaper than universitys

I went to CC took most of my GE requirements.... got my AA, not I'm workin on my Bachelors in Business Administration at CSU East Bay

good look man

and aint nothin wrong with being a male nurse

I hear of a lot of guys being nurses today, compared to how it was in the past

they make good ass money, plus they save people's lives and shit like that... I don't think I could ever do it... but props to people that do

but I'll never hate on anyone for the job (for the most part) do what you gotta do to get your paper... who the fuck am I to judge you, ya dig?

She's a case worker for Oakland Kiaser.....She just finished her online Bachelors degree....They gave her the job without the degree but said she would need to start on it once she was hired......

Even without a Bachelors degree she made over 80k doing the same thing but for the county......

Its a stressful job from what she tells me, but there is alot of siccness.net time available 2......Well for her its facebook....

Do what YOU WANT TO DO! Dont do something just because the money is there. Do something you love, be dam good at it and the big financial part will follow. Trust me, I know some cats that make serious money doing jobs that they didnt want to do in the first place. Yea they got financial security but at the same time they are NOT happy. They are stressed and hate their job. I also have friends that have jobs in fields that they have passion for and make a decent amount to live a decent life and are happier and enjoy waking up in the morning to head to work.

not saying this applies to everybody
