i go to Cal Poly but my freshmen summer i took some courses at DVC in San Ramon and they weren't that bad. DVC is actually a pretty good CC

It might be hard for you to get into a California school as a 20 year old without transfer credits because schools are cutting back enrollment due to the budget shortfalls. Your best bet is prolly going to be a CC or JC and working your ass off, getting a good GPA for a couple years and then transfer

I guess im playin it safe. I wasnt sure if I could complete a four year degree and didnt want to waste a bunch of time and money and end up failing or dropping out when I know i could be getting something and have the option of getting a four year degree after I already have associates degree. So if I cant get the bachelors degree at least I have something I can fall back on my associates degree. You just got to do what you thinks best for you and what you want to do.

So I'm thinking bout going to school. Anybody in or has been to college/university ? What's the best route, community college or just go to university? And do sat matter? I'm been unemployed for a year and a half sorta and its about time to get shit together
if you live in california go to community college apply for the board of govenor's waiver, fill out your fasfa and see if the EOPS office can get you some book vouchers. i missed the deadline for the book vouchers but i got 2000 dollars, part time job, and i dont pay 26 dollars instead i only pay my student union fees which came out to like 30 bucks ? maybe less......

out of state tuition is like 30Gs or some shiet like that. I went to community college for 3 semesters got 31 units, then i stopped and worked and then ended up joining the military.

I'm bout to be done end of this month, so kind of in the same boat as you. I'm using that 9/11 GI bill to get back to school trynna transfer to a state college and it's been about 5 years since I took a college class.

im a super senior at chico state. i came here right outa high school so it was kinda rough trying to stay focused back then... didnt pass some classes my freshman year but ive been doing good ever since. im graduating this year so thats pretty cool. Just stick to the plan man and try not to retake classes like i did. weather its a community college or university, keep passing the classes and you'll move forward! Good Luck!!!

board of governors depends on your finnacial situation , you might get your fees waived or discounted, fasfa depends on your finacial situation but it doesn't hurt to try , also eops im not sure cuz before i even tried the vouchers were already given out and they couldnt give out anymore

also look into college grants i found an awesome one were it's a grant but i have to get my teaching credential if i dont it turns into a loan, there's a grip of scholarships too just you gotta look into them. at the time i had no job i had to get something going....

Not to sound like a high school counselor...

But as long as you have a plan, truly stick with it, study your fuckin ass off while still going on the siccness a few times a day, nothing will stop you from whatever goal you want to reach.

Its all about baby steps and remaining focused. Knowing that everyday is a step toward bettering your life.

I started with baby steps like 5 years ago. Went to a JC for 2 years, transfered to a university, now I'm a registered nurse at the age of 25.

And if finances are a problem, fafsa, grants, student loans are your friend.
That is exactly how you should look at it. I did 2 years at the JC and 2 years at Berkeley straight from high school. You just have to make a plan for yourself, after signing up for my first semester of classes I sat down and figured out what I needed to take and when I needed to take it. I averaged like 15 units each semester and 6 in the summer. The JC is only like High School if you treat it like it is. I know plenty of people that didn't take shit seriously and dropped out but if you take it seriously you will get shit done even if you have to go to a different JC where you don't know everyone.

Good shit, y'all have inspired me to apply for a university. Kinda fucked around though and got a low gpa so i'll probably have to bring that shit up before I can transfer.
