Anyone have any real experience with Video Game Addicts?

Reason I ask is my nephews are always playing COD. That's ALL they do. Their father is a single parent and is a DJ so during the weekends he leaves them home by themselves during the night and they are literally on the game from the time he leaves (8pm) till he comes back (4am).............but they play it crazy during the week too. The father actually works pretty hard during the week so he sleeps soon as he get's home, they jump right on the game. I didn't really notice how bad they were with the addiction until this past weekend. My son had them over the house to hangout and they don't even want to go outside anymore. We are talking about 14-15yr old Boys.
When they asked me if they could play BlackOps, their hands were doing some sort of "crack fiend" movement.....like twitching and shit. It all sounds funny and I know you guys will make jokes.....cool.....but I am for real concerned about these kids. I think I need to tell their father.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Yeah man, someone has to get them involved with a real social and athletic activity. Video game addiction is harmful and can lead to death in a few ways.

But at least be glad their not using their lunch money to buy crack and smoke it outta pop cans.

I have a life (girlfriend, friends, shit like that), but I play video games everyday (usually) for at least four hours a day.

Am I addicted?
Possibly.

I've done without them before though, so it's not like I can't live without them. It's just...If I'm at home, why the fuck not?

Let me see. Where was I at 15? Oh yeah, expelled from school. I was running the streets but also had time for gaming, lol. ROFL@crack fiend movements. I would have said NO and started questioning them as soon as I saw that shit, lol. I'm not laughing at them, I'm laughing at the way you described it, cause when I tease my nephews and call them video game junkies (they aren't by the way, I just fuck with them like that) they scream "nooooo!!" and do this weird thing with their hands and shit, lol.

I would tell their father, cuzzo. I mean all you guys are fam and you're just looking out for them, but how you go about it will be crucial.

i play games daily and when i find one i enjoy i can stay on it for hours at a time..even go as far as going and getting platinums on some...im just glad i have a job..otherwise i might just be on the couch for days playing...no shower just covered in doritos with empty beers everywhere

i'd say if one were to have a video game addiction it would probably be the safest and less harmful addiction to have...i mean, who are you really hurting by playing games all day? sure your not a contributing member to society but i wouldnt be either if it wasnt automatically taken from me....

also it depends on the age ...kids and teens need to be outside and/or having sex enjoying life ...there was once life before the internet and its crazy to think back to then...like what did we do prior to google? or the internet?

Exactly, high as a kite playing mario kart (I played with Toad and Yoshi) or SF 2. Oh, and if you had a PS 1 the game to play while loaded was LOADED. And shit, it wasn't even the full game just the demo. Shit I miss gettin high, lol.

A three-month-old South Korean girl starved to death after her parents repeatedly left her alone for 12-hour stretches to rendezvous at a local Internet cafe, where they were nurturing a virtual child through a computer game known as “Prius Online.”

The 41-year-old father and 25-year-old mother found their real child dead after returning from the cafe. The autopsy revealed that the baby died of prolonged malnutrition.

While online, the couple were raising a virtual daughter seemingly as a form of escapism from their own lives. Both parents recently became unemployed and their baby had been born prematurely, which is taboo in South Korean culture and considered the parents’ fault.

Chung Jin-won, a police officer in Suwon, a suburb of the nation’s capital, Seoul, told the Yonhap News Agency, “The couple seemed to have lost their will to live a normal life, because they didn’t have jobs and gave birth to a premature baby…They indulged themselves in the on-line game of raising a virtual character so as to escape from reality, which led to the death of their real baby.”

Approximately 96 percent of South Koreans regard Internet access as a “fundamental right” and 15 million—30 percent of the population—play online games, according to BBC News.

In 2005, a 28-year-old South Korean man collapsed and died while playing a video game for 50 hours straight, with little food and sleep.

yeah you could tell me an asian ate panda shit while fucking a lobster, while the panda was going bukkake style all over a chimps face and it would surprise me

the fact that they still play with those tamagachi's that was popular when i was i in middle school ( maybe a little more advanced now but still basically the same) should be a red flag to everyone...if you play with tamagachis, do not have kids... i remember broads obsessing over those too...killing kids was never funner...

Well when I was little I absolutely hated playing outside. That shit was always fucking lame. Loved video games & going swimming. That shit was tight. When I was 13 I was locked up so when I got out all that was on my mind was girls. So 14-15 age I was focused on girls, girls, little bit of dank & drank, gang banging, and girls. ...and even then I played video games.

While it sounds to me that your homie is using video games as cheap day care. Playing games like that isn't too absurd. (but shouldn't be allowed) You expecting 14-15 year old boys to want to play outside is a little bit off. I think the cut off age for shit like that is 12 or so.

They asked to play as soon as they got to my crib, around 6:30ish. I didn't let them play until 11:00pm. Cause I knew they would be going to sleep by 2:00am. So I figured they could play for 4 hours.......better than 8 hours right?

I made them go outside and play hideNgo seek for a while. But during that time the oldest 1 would come in to see if he could play....LOL. He didn't even want to go outside. He said, "I just don't like going outside anymore".

Man I feel for these kids. They are being raised in Apt's. And I know that probly don't mean shit to much of you cause living in multiplex homes is common in Cali, but here is Kansas City if you don't live in a house.......you really fucked up along the way. Anyway, they don't ever go outside at their Apt, nor do they have social lives. Man these kids me and ask me...."How do you get people to like you?"......I just tell them to be themselves, but reality is that ain't gonna work cause they don't know how to talk or interact with people. It's crazy!

One time I was playing Black Ops with them and they had the ear piece Mic on....(they were at their Apt).....I could hear my oldest nephew talking to another boy about how to deal with depression and his step father. I just couldn't believe that these kids tell shit like this to complete strangers. Their whole social life is on these games.

I know I am going to have to tell their dad but this dude is so fucking sensitive it is amazing. In the past I have brought up things to him about his kids and he just flips the fuck out like I am telling him he is a bad father. And I do it in a very passive manner.................

Its a fucked up situatio.
