Police: Gunshot Residue Found On Harding's Hand
SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco police revealed Tuesday that the teenage parolee from Seattle had gunshot residue on his hand at the time he was shot and killed by two officers during a foot chase.
Police said Tuesday that tests revealed the residue on Kenneth Harding's right hand. Those results support eyewitness accounts that the 19-year-old was firing a gun at officers when he was shot Saturday, according to investigators.
Harding was shot multiple times at about 4:45 p.m. after running from two officers who had taken him off a Muni light-rail vehicle in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood for suspected fare evasion, according to police.
During the chase, Harding, a Seattle resident, allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot once at the pursuing officers, police said.
"We have witnesses who say they did see the flash, the muzzle flash, the suspect in this case fired backwards at the officers as he was running," said SFPD Lt. Hector Sainez on Monday.
