I love the NW. Cats out here just need to get their shit together if they really want to make a living or any kind of mark in this shit. Do you think that it's any different anywhere else? If you go to LA, NY, ATL, or any of these other cities, there are even more hatin ass rappers, and a million more cats that are fighting to get their big break. Everybody and their mama is an MC now. Just face it, you gotta get out there and push your music to get any type of support from the hip-hop fans of the region. Whoever said it was going to be easy?

Me and the NW gotta love hate relationship. When it comes right down to it though, I couldn't think of any place I'd rather be. It's unfortunate that the HipHop community is an extreme minority in the NW. Makes it hard to make a successful career out of it. I'll tell you this though, it'll be a lovely day in the NW when we get that national attention we've been waiting for, who ever it may be. As artists, I think the best chance of doing that is appealing to the audience on a broader spectrum. Born and raised in the NW, I know that the way of life here is MUCH different than any other place in the country. For those of you who were also born and raised here, my idea is to take yourself back to the days when ya'll were kids. I know it can be difficult, but get back in touch with the beauty that's all around you. In my opinion, nobody wants to hear a NW that ain't even content with their own being. In other words, nobody wants to hear a NW that's trying to be the Bay, NYC, the Dirty South, etc. Be you, do you, and rep that shit right. Quit bullshittin on wax about shit you ain't even doin.

P.S. The NW is my product. The only way I'm gonna sell that product is to be confident in it. Saying fuck the NW is saying fuck you. Ain't nobody gonna sell shit with that attitude. Word?

Nutz pretty much summed it up. But I'm hearing from more and more people that we're getting a reputation for being haters. And look at another interesting thing that's happend lately.......major concert tours aren't even coming here anymore. There wasn't 1 single NW date for the Usher tour.....like any of us give a fuck.....but it's a sign. The KUBE 93 Summer Jam's have been hella weak the past few years. The Luda/Juvenile show......CANCELLED. The NW Hip-Hop Summit......NEVER materialized. Sonny Bonoho had to put his King Hip-Hop function on to replace the summit.....only to get jumped at the Paramount by the haters who fumbled the ball on the summit because of straight jealousy. Radio won't play us more than 1 night a week. I could go on and on.......

And yeah.....I do think it's different other places. You know why? Because people from there and people that have been there keep tellin' me it is.

It is so different everywhere else....I've been to Memphis, Boston, Reno, The Bay, Kansas City, St. Louis, Minneapolis and I'm in New Mexico now and I've had more success in one weekend then I've had in the 6 years of throwin shows and shit in the N.W. If you can't find a market or a venue to showcase your shit that is a steady one and the fans the people the towns is all hatin not just the artists cuzz fucc that jus gives me shit to write about...its the place as a whole. You will only get mediocre success in the region until someone blows and stays there to cultivate it instead of leaving like mix did.

And yes I agree that it's hard to gain recogniton in the Northwest, but these are the cards we were dealt. We all don't have the luxury to get up and relocate to another state just to try to make a name for ourselves. It is sad to see that more artists can't get the recognition they deserve in their own backyard. All one can do is hope that in time shit will crack in the Northwest. All we can really do is continue to make the muzik we love and continue to move forward in hopes that one day we will shine like some diamonds! Just my 2 Abraham Lincolns...

I do look at it through the eyez of those artists because I am one of em. I am 28 years old and been rappin since I was 16. I dropped 5 underground tapes before I dropped a single in 2003 and then finally dropped my debut album under Eastside Muzik Inc in 2004. It was no easy road for me either so I know the feelin. I got shit stacked against me cuz I don't come from a city like Seattle or Portland...I come from the city of Sunnyside where there's only a little over 10,000 people. So, talk about havin no connections. I had to reach out to make a dent in this game. I wonder sometimes if it's even worth doin also, but as long as I have a voice and a hand to write with I will continue to chip away at this game unitl one day my voice is heard. And if nothin else I will just continue to do the muzik for the love and worry about the rest later. So, yes I do dig what you're sayin 100%!

I'm tryin' to get paid.....doin' it "for the love" ain't enough anymore. I'm tryin' to make a CAREER out of this shit......not have it be a hobby while I either work a real day job that actually PAYS MY BILLS or it's back to slangin'......or even worse it's back to kickin' in people's doors. People whine and bitch about payin' $200 for a beat around here......everybody wants "the hook-up." And my favorite bullshit line of all time (this usually comes out the mouths of the newbies droppin' their first album)....."I can shoot you some money when I get paid from sellin' the album." lol.....yeah....right. It takes money to make money champ.

There's no MONEY here.....there's no BUSINESS here....and without those elements you have NOTHING. The Seattle, Portland and Boise markets ain't shit and that is obvious from how the music business is treating us and how the consumers in these markets treat us. Ya'll don't hear me though.

The fact of the matter is....the NW is FULL of haters.Everyone wanna step on others toes...everyone wants a piece of the pie and aint willin to share it...and absolutely NO support from radio stations. All KUBE wants to do is keep up with the rest of the counctry and are too afraid of some local shit cus you cant see the video for it on MTV or BET.Its a fuckin shame...

I'm tryin to get paid too. I'm pretty sure we all are. But in reality in order for us to do this muzik thang we have to love it enough to wanna stay in it past a first album. If I didn't love this shit as much as I do I would hang up the mic in a second cuz I know that this game ain't no joke. The support ain't always there and a lot of people like you spoke about are lookin for "the hook-up." Example: "I'm one of your biggest fans so you should give me your cd for free." We will never come up on top with these kind of antics. If they are true fans like they say they are then they should pull out their wallets or their purses and help support the movement. Makin this muzik didn't come free. And I can't understand why people would whine and bitch about payin $200 a beat. That's actually a really good deal. There's plenty of producers out there lookin for a lot more than that. New artists should undersand that in order to be in this game they have to be ready. There won't be many producers, aritsts, etc...willin to front shit to em. I was fortunate enough to have all my shit together for my debut album.

If there's no MONEY or BUISINESS here then what can we do? Do we move to another state where shits poppin and hope that shit pops for us to, or do we ride it out and hope that in time the Northwest will get this shit figured out? It's a tough decision. Like I said before, we all don't have the luxury to just get up and leave where we're at. And I do hear ya Mr. D-Sane...I hear ya loud and clear.

i hear you 100%.. this region has been looked down upon since i can remember.. in every aspect besides pimpin.. you go down to vegas and they know if they see a oregon, or washington plate, its either a pimp or a weed man...lol..

its just time to make ppl see us so much they have no choice but to show us love.. you see how erryone else do it... erry where you go, be like 12 deep, do shit that makes you stand out in public.. be at erry function/club doin it real big.. ppl will eventually look up to us, and admire us, make our selfs into celebrities, instead of just a "local" nigga.. ppl wanna suport mufuckas wit deep pockets for some reason, and not ppl that are tryin to feed there family..

the sheep will folow.. its just time to put on our clown suits so-to-speak
