how fucking sad is that? its clearly NOT about tha music anymore ... its sad that MOST people these days who listen to your 50 cents/ Lil Waynes/Kanyes form their opinion based on how much money they have or how high up their video is on the TRL countdown. Ive been in many arguments with many different pro-mainstream people and they ALL have the exact same refute. I guess if you dont go platinum your basically shit.

And while there are some fans who appreciate these dudes for their music, for every 1 of them dudes theres 10 sheep that like it because BET/MTV/the neighbors dog told them to like it.

Like someone earlier in this thread said, "Form your own opinion", dont let BET/MTV form one for you. Fuckin sheep.

I dont hate the mainstream, I just hate the way people glorify it.

Haha TRL is still on? Didnt even know that. I got my mainstream artist i like i got my underground. I just hate how people HATE on it just like people glorify it. Some people on here just hate shit cuz it is mainstream. But underground>mainstream.

DeathPotion: I agree with you... and from that I agree with what Meta4iCAL said. I'd like Lil Wayne's flows (for example) if he was just the kid around the corner rapping, no matter what he sells.

I'm not feeling when people with a lot of talent make it and people hate on them just cuz they're mainstream. That to me is wack! They have the talent and really made it? THEN that's where they should be!

Plus, you gotta respect 50's hustle and determination from almost dying to being one of the most successful people in entertainment. Whether he makes good music or not, I respect him at least for that much (but he does have some hot joints)

I agree with you, but at the same time you gotta look at the way some people glorify the underground scene.

some people do the exact opposite. they think if an artist DOES sell 10 mil then they are automatically "pop" or that they sold out.

I personally listen to every type of hip hop, from mainstream to underground, some artists I like some I don't... as long as the music is good then I'll listen

Your right, the same thing can be said for the underground in terms of glorification, good point. I guess thats just water under the bridge then...

The main thing I was tryin to emphasize on is that theres too many musicians in general that sell records based on things like their image, power, money, etc.. things that more or less have nothing to do with their actual music. And yes that goes for the underground as well but is more common within the mainstream.

it just seems like alot people dont seriously sit down and 'listen' to the music anymore they just 'see' it. Thats all i was tryin to say...
