since you have to pay for health care over there does having a baby cost thousands of dollars?
depends on the insurance

I didn't pay a dime for my daughter because I'm half native and her mom is half native, her mom's tribal insurance paid for everything.

Most people with money have some kind of insurance and most people who are poor have some type of free healthcare like medicaid.

9 times out of 10 a baby won't get paid for, a few people in the lower middle class bracket who's employer don't offer health insurance might get screwed though, they don't make enough money to afford insurance and they ain't poor enough for medicaid.

^and that's why we pay 45 dollars for a 24 of stella

For da babies
Your health care system is still pretty flawed though, it's great for random trips to the emergency room and shit like that, but specialized health care blows. I've read stories of people having to wait 6 months in Canada to get a bypass surgery after a heart attack.

I'd rather get a massive bill after having a heart attack than waiting 6 months to fix my heart lol

On the other hand though, I'd love to have your health care for shit like getting an arm casted up after breaking it and random shit like that.

Yeah it sucks for some specialized treatments due to wait times, some people opt to go to the States if they have the money. The other thing is they do not cover dentistry, hospital amenities and drugs after your hospital stay.

But it really helps sometimes when something drastic happens and your family doesn't have any disposable income. I have some decent examples but a real good one is my friend's sister somebody hit and ran her and she cracked her head open on pavement. They operated on her that night, put a metal plate in her head and the works. She was released after a few days when she was 100% and no bill to the family at all.

Word, I wish we could have something like that for everybody.

Unfortunately we have 317 million people and a corporation ran government, don't see it happening.

the health insurance offered for low prices through Obamacare seems terrible, you gotta payout like $2500 or some shit before you can even use the insurance and then on top of that you still have to pay a monthly fee and a co-pay after the hospital visit.

I guess the sole purpose of it is for emergencies only like what happened to gimmefreemusic's friend's sister. Their thought process is "a few thousand is better than $50,000" lol it sucks
