Nuttkase I usually trust your opinions of movies but what exactly did you think made it one of the best movies of 2012?
I totally understand that it was supposed to be satirical, and making fun of our society and James Franco as Alien was cool, and it had a few "funny" parts (albeit for the wrong reasons) but it was mostly unwatchable.
I like it a lot stylistically, aesthetically and also the cinematography. It's more of a long montage than it is a traditional movie really, which I thought was cool. I mean probably about a dozen parts of the movies could have made their own short films. There was a bunch of funny ass scenes to me and also a lot that actually made me think some which was unexpected going into the movie. I like that it's Harmony Korine's take on what he thought the whole early 1990s MTV spring break must have been like seeing he was too busy being a burn out skater in NYC to experience it himself (obviously he set it currently though).
Franco was good as Alien, should have been Riff Raff though.
I've watched it like a half dozen times now, own it on DVD.
Plus I like more or less all of Korine's. You should watch Gummo if you haven't, or even maybe Trash Humpers.
I don't know dude. I just liked it a lot.
